I know this is the rarest of the rare master cylinders to find, (PN C7TZ2140G), but on the chance I find one, has anyone done this conversion? Looks like the casting web will have to opened up for the clutch rod. Any other modifications needed? Thanks, Howard
if you're talking about the stock master cylinder for a '67 econoline, it's the same as the one used in the 49-51 ford . mac's lists that m/c for about $115. hope that helps.
I don't think so Dan. The '67 Econoline had a dual circuit master cylinder as per federal mandate. As I understand it, the '67 unit will bolt into '49-'51 so we can have the safety of this feature with few modifications. Any real life experiences out there? Thanks, Howard
maybe so--but i had a 67 econoline back in the late 70s and it had the shoebox style m/c in it. maybe mine was one of those "pieced together" ones. in a former life it had been a coca-cola delivery truck, so maybe that had something to do with it, the thing had mucho miles on it.
just googled 66 econoline and apparently that was the last year for the old style m/c. guess mine might have been a very early 67 or i bought a 66 that was titled as a 67. but if that dual m/c will work in a shoebox, that'd be a great upgrade!
Dan, the problem is finding one. I'll follow this up with a picture. Looks like all that has to be modified is opening up a hole in the web at approx. 1 o'clock to front mounting hole for the clutch rod.
Here's the '67 Econoline MC. What do you think? Here's a picture of a 1967 Econoline cylinder all dressed up in VHT Bright Blue paint.
those mc have been impossible to find for years! when i had my old econoline pickup the guy i got mine from had a box full and claimed they were pretty valuable and now i know why. he was having them sleeved.
I KNOW ITS AN OLD POST BUT YES THESE WILL BOLT RIGHT ON AND WORK AMAZINGLY! MY DAD DID THIS CONVERSION TO OUR 56 F100 IN THE 80S AND I RECENTLY DID THIS CONVERSION TO A FRIENDS 49 FOR SHOEBOX. THEY BOLT DIRECTLY INTO THE STOCK LOCATION AND AS FAR ARE CLUCH ROD GOES JUST CUT OFF THE FRONT SECTION OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. ITS ALL CASTING AND WILL NOT EFFECT THE USE
