I'm spraying Kirker hot rod flat on my truck tomorrow using to TP tools showtime 90 hvlp turbine. I read this paint sprays thick, how much should I reduce it ? It says 3 to 1 to 1 but can I add more reducer to make up for the heat in the hose? I'm using the slowest reducer and activator they have, temp above 80.
We sprayed my pickup with Kirker Semi Gloss black and it was hotter that a 4 balled tom cat,,we use 3 to 1 and it turned out good. HRP
Shot the side today, put in a little extra reducer and it ran bad. Sanded it back down , useda little less reducer and got no runs butvery rough texture. I guess i need to shoot something i can color sand smooth until i figure this turbine out.
I use turbines all the time with floor coatings I spray. They do tend to spray quite dry looking( textured) which doesn't affect the look I need at work, but I always use my old Binks on my cars. What I find helps on the turbine guns when I spray clear is to use a smaller needle and move quite quickly doing several passes to get the desired coat, this avoids sags, and the smaller needle tends to create better atomization of the paint, avoiding the textured finish. With the price of paint these days, I find it always pays to practice on a few spare parts to get the right combo that works for you. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
