Folks who are subscribers of the Rodders Journal may recall from issues 43 and 46 the story of Richard "Mac" McKinstry and the 55 Chevy the "Wapid Wabbit" owned by a friends of his and that he raced at the Indy Nationals back in the early 60s, winning E-Gas. Eventually there was a change to C/Gas but he lost the final match up when he floated the valves. There was a collection of photos that he took at the Nationals over several years of going there. Mac is a coworker of mine and after showing me the pictures from the Rodders Journal as well as several others he's taken in the central M*** area I had mentioned that the people on this website would get a huge kick out of them. The quality of these photos is unbelieveable and almost look like they were taken today with a digital camera even though some of them were taken 50 years ago. He has agreed to let me put them up here to share. He'll be happy to answer any questions he can remember the answer to. Off the top of my head here are two stories as he explained them to me: In some of the pictures you'll see a smashed Corvette. Mac was a p***enger in the car when the driver was cut off by another car. The Vette side swiped a pole and Mac did an end over end out of the car and landed on his feet with nothing more than a scratch on the lip! Theres also a black 64 tri power GTO that he had that met an unfortunate end when it was rear ended by a drunk driver. Alright enough yakkin', on with the pics. Theres almost 500 of these so I'll putting them up a few at a time:
Very cool! What years were the photos taken? Posted using Full box of Crayons on the Kitchen Walls App!
