Dragging it outside isnt for us , its for you . Something about the light outside shows you a much better outlook on the lines of the car , its not like you have a big shop with tons of lighting and room . Your shop is like most of ours , thats not a bad thing . Now , when I say dragging it outside isnt for us , well I'm just kidding . Hell yes we want to see some new pictures , whatever you do we want to see it .

Just remember when you are doing this, you may have to visualize the window pulled forward or moved back depending on how it fits best in your eyes, tell us what you are thinking of how you want it to fit buddy. ;)

i was skeptical till you layed that rear window down! i like it. I think i would have been tempted to get a roof off a late 40s plymouth coupe and used that rear section.

I rather just go with a whole new suspension system regardless at this point. The car def needs a freshening up of the suspension, and i'll have to spend the money regardless. I found that kit for $1780ish with free shipping.

By the time i get through the break conversion, rack and pinion conversion, shock relocation, bag install, and some newer stock parts on the rest of the setup i'll end up spending almost as much. Except i would have to do alot more custom fab work[which i don't mind, i just don't have the time].

Yup i thought of this, but i don't really know where to find this stuff around me. I mostly scour the internet.

Im really anxious to get back to work, but i have a ton of reading before class sat. Sunday will be the only full day i'll get to work on it in a few weeks. Next weekend i'll be in NYC, followed by the 24hr rolex cup in daytona the following weekend.

So i flipped the rear window to take a look. Didn't really like it. I took a few pictures, but didn't bring it outside because it was already dark out.

Then when i flipped it back to how it was i took out another inch off the back of the roof, and slid the class forward some more. It tightened up the curve where the window meets the roof much better. Now it will barely have filler.

From there i made a ton of reliefe cuts and started going at it with a hammer, dolly, and torch to get the shape i wanted. Its almost there on the passanger side. a Little more and i'll be happy with the results.

Looks like you're getting the hang of metal fabrication/modification. It's a matter of trying, perfecting and lots of patience. You'll get there!

Looks good. The flipped window doesnt look right for this car, good call on leaving it. I hear you about the whole NEW suspension, the factory stuff gets fatigued after so much use.

the upside down window definetly looks like butt!
Just something here to check on, make sure the strip of metal that makes up the bottom of the window frame stays pushed up against the gasket. The weight of the glass will push that metal strip down and if you weld it in just like that, the gasket will be loose and therefore so will be the glass.

Thanks i appreciate it! If my car was my cruiser i would have been more reluctant. But knowing i had the winter and wasn't really driving it at all i didn't mind diving in.

No real updates tho, i spend the end of last week and weekend in daytona for the 24hr rolex cup. Great experience, now i just need to find a way to fund a team and get racing!!!

I was lucky enough to get to be right in the pits for the BMW 200 challenge race the day before the Rolex cup started.

Here are some photos i took, and a video my friend put together from some night racing.

Glad you have your priorities straight Marcello! Thanks for posting the pics from Daytona -- taking things at a comfortable pace makes for a better result IMO. I admire your guts in starting this project, and your good judgement -- hang in there! :)

Car is sitting exactly as it did when this thread died. Im graduating my nights and weekends gradschool this summer and will have more time. In the meanwhile i jumped back onto a project i started a few years before this one. a 1933 ford roadster with a stroker LS based motor and vette suspension. not traditional at all so its on another forum. It is almost roadworthy for this summer so i wanted to get moving on it again. This fall i will hop back onto this project again.

Build thread for the 33: http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1308656-1933-ford-coupe-roadster-stroker-build.html

cool, well have started stripping my Plymouth down there is enough on this thread to kind of guide me.the only question i have is how you were able to stretch the door frame to match the new lower roof? my door frames came cut off laying in the car and now with everything lower the upper door frame is too short.i figure ill cut it in the center and stretch it somehow.like i said before mine got hacked bad by previous owner. but i'm feeling ambitious enough to get it done right. i do have pictures i am posting soon.

I'll have to take a look at the pics to get an idea....but i just noticed you posted in 2014 you're probably past that already haha.

Anyways Im back on this project finally. I'm all ramped back up and moving at full speed. Waiting on photobucket to get back up so i can upload the latest progress pictures. The roof shell is finished, i need to work on some inner structure. I shifted gears and moved onto the front end. Removed the grill, welded the 3 piece fenders together and started bodyfilling them smooth. Frenched the headlights, and filled the lower "driving light?" hold and smoothing that out as well. Next is to body fill the hood smooth and shave off any lettering holes. I also removed the little trim above the grill. I felt it looked out of place as well. Pics coming soon.

I haven't gotten very far on my 1950 special deluxe at all. Time suddenly came at a premium once my wife started having babies, ha-ha. Well that and last summer I built my self a daily driver truck. But i started working on my project again too, I have been working on installing new floor pans and rockers while dreaming up a new fire wall to fit around my big block, I figured i would work on the hacked roof and door frames last after brushing up on my fab skills on the less noticeable areas of the floor and firewall. I might just go buy a roof cut from a salvage yard to work with, it would save me alot of time as mine is hacked up so bad..
