I made 44oo mile LARS Trip and on the next to last fuel stop in Sulfer, La.....Forgot to put my gas cap back on......who makes the aluminum screw on type...it is alum....knurled on edges for grip and screws on threaded tank inlet
You might try Rock Valley. The cap you have is similar to the one I have from them but may not be the same size.
Not sure...it looks like the same cap that was on my Poly "TANKS" tank I had on my other car.....but this one is metal......I think it is a Rock Valley..but I haven't called them yet.......thanks for all the help......my buddy and I were so tired...Sunday 750 miles, Monday 930 miles and today 330 miles...he forgot to put it back on...no big deal...they didn't build just one and stop...I'll get another one.
Tanner, Glad you made it home OK. I rolled in about 6 this evening, no problems. You guys were already gone when I got up Sunday. Had a blast with the greybeards. Wayne
Hey Wayne.......I left Sunday morning at 5 am I think and got to my shop at noon today.........man am I tired........I'm going to close tomorrow to get some rest......really enjoyed meeting you...hope all your stuff goes well this week......keep in touch.....Tanner
Tanner, Did ya leave it @ that lawn mower shop you were talkin about ? Had a ball runnin with ya. Glad ya had a safe trip. Be yakkin witcha. Wayne,, glad ya made it home safe also. Don
If it is from Rock Valley, be aware that they changed the thread size from coarse thread to fine thread in their caps several years ago.
My Buddy and i would buy every other tank og fuel...it was his turn and when it stopped pumping...it said see cashier for recite.....(that torques me because they want you to come inside and buy something)...but he said he didn't need one, so we left...don't even know what the name was or exactly where it was......all I know is it was somewhere around 100-125 miles from our last stop..........
Got home around noon......my butt feels like I rode a 2 5/16 trailer ball the last 200 miles.....very, very tired............Old saying...Been their, done that.....got a t-shirt....on to a new venture next trip....I really enjoyed it...specially going with Don and meeting with Robert from Ca....it always pays to have someone from the area that has been their and done it before......they know all the ropes.......and right people
Glad you made it home O.K., I'm always pleased (amazed!) to see so many hot rods from so far outa state that DROVE! So, I'd like to say thanks for coming! You guys make the HAMB "national"!
Made it home with no problems........the Nethercutt Museum...you've got to get hooked up to see all this...both buildings..........pictures cannot even come close to what it's like....they were telling me they had a guy come in and do some pinstripes on the side of a car...it's called caneing(spelling?)....it looks like a summer cane hat.....or basket....the lady said there was only one man it the country that can do it....I told her I could...then she said have you felt it..I said.."No Mam"..I haven't touched anything....she took me over and told me to run my hand down the side of the quarter....it was raised up, but you couldn't tell it by looking.....it was individually cut pieces of wood paper thin glued to the side of the car....and then painted...said it took a month or so to do it........I NEVER KNEW......even an old dawg can learn new tricks.....if she hadn't let me feel the striping, I would have never knew....but on my way home, I figured out a way to fake it.....and they'd never know unless they scrapped it off......A COUNTRY BOY "WILL SURVIVE"................I'm going to do it on something pretty soon
Nethercutt is certainly on my bucket list and has been for a while. Far as your cap goes the ones used on the poly tanks had a different I.D., smaller then the 2 and a quarter inch ones available at tanksinc.com, might measure first.
Hey!---Appreciate all you guys chasing lines to our 50th!!! If you would like, I'll be glad to send you an original ss gas cap unless you want to stay with the aluminum one. Just email your home address----Don
Outside measurement is 2.25 and it looks like fine thread...it's a metal tank DUN BY DON SIGNS 1180 STATELINE RD., NORTH WILMER, AL. 36587 251-649-5397
Tanner, I have seen caning (sp)done with the strips of caning like from chairs. I have also seen it done the "correct way" with multiple layes of paint to raise it untill it was nearly as thick as the wood caning. Late 20's Cadillac and Chrysler cars used it.
The caning on the car at Nethercutt looked to me like the person had used a Bugler Striper with thick lacquer paint...doing it vertical, then horizontal and then came back diagonal with multiple stripes......I know for a fact I could match it and they'd never know the difference and it would have the same effect and feel........I just wouldn't let them see me do it....hehehe....I'd act like some acientric pinstriper that would loose his power to stripe if someone watched him......like some of these famous painters...I just wouldn't cut off my ear or anything like that...........I had a couple customers over the years that felt like if you didn't charge more than it's worth so they could brag about how much they spent, they were not happy.....I guess it's a rich thing...........pays the bills a whole lot better......hehe
Tanner, I got a 34 Vicky you could practice on. LOL Ya sure ya didn't leave that cap @ the lawnmower shop in the desert?
Tanner is sellin franchise's Wayne. Ya need 2 invest and get in on the bottom floor before the prices sky rocket.
Yeah...we've added a couple things to the list we want to sell with the lawn mowers, Anthony said he would sharpen blades cause all the rocks would dull the blades....trees...there's none out their.....and a service truck to replace the little plastic things on the end of shoe laces...........We hope to franchise out from their.......I'm hunting investors now..........Wayne-0...that would be a great investment for you.....thought about letting Don handle outside sales..............We're getting ready to go public....we saw several vacant buildings on the way back that would work great
NO CHARGE for the ss gas cap!!!---Just send me your mailing address---OK?--I have many extras. My email: deuce2@bendbroadband.com
