Black with Oxblood interior. I always liked that combo for a car and will have it one day.

I dont have to worry about the heat issue, but they do collect more rain water than a bench...And yes, I was kind of mentally chanelling a combination of the Big T and the Revell 22Jr kits(and early sixties Tony Nancy digger seats in general) when I came up with this scheme. Not a good plan for fat guys though...LOL!

since you brought up the subject of models, heres the perfect seat, dead-on what I am thinking of, in 1/25 scale. For any model guys lurking, yes, I have the complete kit. They are foaming at the mouth right now...

The Halibrands are obviously off the charts cool, but on this T it reminded me of a kid who borrowed his older brother's baseball cleats for a sandlot game, just a tiny bit ill-fitting, stiff and uncomfortable.

But these Americans with the TC cheaters... like the kid has a new pair of Chuck Taylors and he's ready for some serious stick-ball in the street!

  10. Yup, we're in Pomona. Chip liked riding in a car with AC instead of a roadster where you bake! :) Today was Early Ford Parts, SoCal, and Wardell's. Tomorrow is the show and swap meet. Talk about your sensory overload...

He's becoming TC's biggest cheerleader, too!

  11. Looked for you guys today, couldn't find you. Kept checking to see if you guys posted an update or location. Ufortuately, Nitrobrother, I couldn't find a pic of you car on here so. I'd know what I was looking for. We didn't come to walking the entire swap meet and specality car areas though, getting too old for that much walking in one day. Hopefully the car won't bite me in the @ss and we can come for the whole weekend next year.

    October 1963....

I'm A 15 year old schoolkid sitting in the dreaded dentist's waiting room, trying to find something in the pile of magazines on the desk to take my mind off the fear... I come across this magazine with pictures of cars like I've never seen before in my life... I don't remember what happened with the dentist, but I do remember that magazine, it left the surgery with me, under my school jumper!

This is the little T bucket that started my love affair with hot rods. It's the blue one on the front cover, and yes, it has a white interior too!

Won't be seeing much of this happening any more. In place of Rod & Custom and Car Craft we'll see Computers Today, Gaming Quarterly, Oral Health and Political Correctness Monthly. Recruting new hot rodders from our yout' is becoming harder than ever with no good magazines to leave around as bait.

A print magazine about online stuff, haha,

Less to do about subject matter more to do about the medium.

All you've gotta do to sink a hook into the youth is drive your car! Seeing a mean hotrod rip past will do more then a dozen magazines stumbled across ever will.

I still do it just about every day. Some parents alert the kids, but usually, the kids hear it first and look.:D I'm waiting for the day to cool down a little, then I'll be out and about.

  16. I am liking the direction Chip. Those new tires look 100 times nicer than the Hursts.

I like getting the young kids involved,,If a kid looks like under control by the mom or dad and looks interested in hotrods=you can tell,,I'll let the kid sit behind the steering wheel, but do try to be carefull there not some brat that will grab stuff just to see if he or she can brake it. Keep your eye on them full time.

The late Don Brasseau SBC powered T is the one we were trying to think of at LARS. You almost had his name. I used to see it driving around San Lorenzo (a suburb of Oakland Ca.) in the '50s. Great weekend. I haven't come down yet. Might be my last. It is getting crazy. download.jpg SANY0096.jpg

  20. Gary, I regret not saying hello when we walked by, but you guys were eating lunch, and we were heading over to the Over the Hill Gangs tent for lunch as well (gotta get there quick, or you go hungry!). Although still an insanely successful show, we both thought attendance seemed a little light this year. The two special.parking lots that were virtually empty definitly contributed to that feeling, but I bet the actual car count was down too. You guys has pretty primo parking in the shade!

Phillips, you just NAILED exactly what I was trying to say with the Halibrands! Cool as hell, but they were borrowed from my fairly hardcore mid fifties styled '29 RPU. It made them nearly a full ten years earlier than what I am trying to portray with this car. Yes they could have been on this car at that moment in time, but the reality is that whoever would have done it that way probably might have been a bit embarrassed at have a set of "old Wheels" on his new build 'cause they were available and he could afford them rather than what he wanted. That's always how I felt about them on this car, too. Just one of those semi "big deals" about knowing when stuff was made and what era they are appropriate to...

Gary, that's the one I was trying to remember the name for too! I too dig the earlier black version of the car more than the later silver version, but both were awesome. Thanks again for letting me drive the beast a bit!!! And, that'll be enough talk of a "possibly my last Roadster show" - That man hug and hand shake tells me you've got many left!!!

Blown fuel, Sorry we didn't get together this year. Nitro Brother and I did this deal kinda easy this year, as it was his first, rather than my usual 200mph tear through things. He learned many things about me being in close proximity for that long -

    1. I walk way too fast! Always have and part of an upbringing in a retail business owning family.

    2. I talk WAY too much! Part of the same deal as above, but I never shut up. And, I tell stories too, many of them actually having a point!

    3. I eat way too damn fast. See the same reasons above as well. Because we were all on retail sales floors together, these are traits that my whole family shares. I took a former girlfriend to Thanks giving at my parents house years ago and she was genuinely scared...

All and all I'd say he did pretty well keeping up! But taking things a bit slower meant not having time to catch up with everyone I intended to. I'm thinking I'm going to work my ever lovin' ass off all summer and do my best this year to get over to Hot Rod Reunion this fall... Maybe then.

I fall very firmly into the "hook the kids into this deal" kinda thing. Anytime I see an interested, well behaved curtain climber lookin' at my stuff it's always good for a sit behind the wheel as long as mom and dad are okay with it.

I had a younger guy (late twenties/early thirties) park his muscle car next to me at a cruise night a couple of years ago when I was still in the Plymouth as a daily. We chatted for a minute or two, and he grabbed something out of his car. He walked back around to me and showed me a picture of him sitting in the drivers seat of my Plymouth as a 11 or 12 year old boy at a Pavilions cruise night almost twenty years ago, and he had been hoping to run into me for quite awhile. He thanked me for letting him do that all those years ago, and mom had snapped the picture that night. He said the fact that a total stranger would let him do that had left a fairly large impression on him that this stuff was pretty cool and that he'd like to be part of it. He also mentioned that he was part of the great "finger painting incident" at Pavilions a couple weeks later... But that is another story for another time!

SANY0092.jpg Ah Fuel you should have just come up to me and said hello. I didn't need that hot dog anyway.

Yes Blue we did have a "power park" but we had to work for it. We came in on Friday afternoon and the powers to be made us move a couple of times before they left us alone.

Yeah Chip I guess I'm always burnt out after a long weekend like this. Don't know how I'll be able to top this one though. Met and talked to some great guys. As for the "bro hug" you are so honest and outgoing I feel as though I've known you for years. We'll see how I feel in 2015.
