Hemi powered FED Club Plaque A running Hot Rod I love this drilled axle. Don't want to see the top that gets chopped with this tool. Another cool club jacket This is where I bought my first hot rod parts in 1955, Kev found the jacket on E Bay What else would you expect More cool old stuff Reached the Max again BB
A fantastic travelogue, Bob. Thanks for the effort, great trip. I was driving down I-5 the day before Santa Maria, through that Shasta Lake bridge stretch and the same thing you described occurred, an accident shutting down the northbound lane……I don't even see how they could get a tow truck in because there was only one lane each way and tall concrete construction barriers on each side of the single lane!
Tom; I don't think they did because when we got through finally the motor home, a class C, was just sitting off to the side and there was no tow truck in evidence. I think they just pulled it out with a truck and a chain or tow strap. BB
good to see you back. We were concerned about the lack of updates by you. Drive safely. It's RAINING here. (Slightly SE of Antigo) We're off to see the world's largest badger.
Love the picks Bob. Hope to see you at BTTF's and DSM GG's. And those flatheads aren't 60's, they are full size 85's.
That last time we posted was when we left Kiwi Kevs fabulous place, after that we went to have Ice Cream at a neat little place in downtown Ventura. The next day it was off to Mooneyes, and believe it or not, Chico was really in the office working instead of manning the booth in some far off exotic location. A lot of history here Big Daddy lives The neatest diorama of Roth How's this for a pair of Oldies Just how many potvin charged motors does one need??? Nuff Said Reached MAX PHOTOS again To be continued BB
Now there is a pair to draw too. The Bonneville Car and of course Maggie has to be in the picture Then it was off to Limeworks to see Steve, He was talking shop as usual A real variety of rides at Limeworks The next day, Saturday we had breakfast at Norms Hanger WOW AN AIRPLANE TAKING OFF LOL The obligatory shot in front of the museum The first shots of the Specialty Parking at the Show, this was on Friday which was set up day. This Merc had a 50's Desoto rear bumper with a Mercury overrider top welded in, I don't understand the cut out section though. It really was flawless work. Really Cool Mopar Wagon Super nice fleetline Mostly stock 51 Vert, nicest I have ever seen. More of this Merc in the next post. BB
As promised Just couldn't get enough of this one I just love these old beasts Burgers and drinks at Roberts Breakfast on the run to the Grand Canyon But first a stop at Jerome AZ, an old mining town on the side of a mountain. It is now a tourist attraction. We are out of room again, more from St Paul tonight BB
Great you finally made it to Jerome with Maggie. How did she like it? Did you take the road from Prescott to Jerome?
Great trip Bob and Maggie. I thought Fat Lucky's interior was in Texas (not sure why). One day I hope to meet kiwi Kev and see his collection of art...
He was a few years back in the South Austin Speed Shop, still has a house in Austin. I found a tailgate, well actually half of a tailgate, it was rusted in half and all of the trim and mechanism was missing and the top part had rust holes in the sill part. BB
F She loved it, we had a beer and it was music festival time so we listened to tunes and chilled out. Hwy 89 a was closed 12 miles up the way to Flagstaff so we had to backtrack to I 17. At at the Fat Olive in Flagstaff. Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12 mi sounds like about where you start to climb out of the canyon. Glad to hear she liked Jerome I remember you saying you were sure she'd love it and that you'd have to get her there sometime
Yes Bob, arrived home Wed 18th, reliving trip through all stories and photos posted here and on Hot Rod Craft- Deuce site Noel
Thanks for posting these pics ! You had a great trip !!! Please post more pics ! I can only dream being there...
Bob..Great to talk to you as you were cruising the Swap Meet at the LA Roadster Show....Glad to be along for the ride, and I`ll see you on the Salt....
This town is really built on the side of a mountain, Gotta get the Ol girl in at least one shot This truck was at the bottom of a Ravine, I don't recognize it. That is the last one from Jerome Co. I really liked that town as you can tell from the number or shots I took. We spent the night at Flagstaff AZ and had dinner with Salt Flat Matt and his lovely new wife Megan and all 3 kids and the next morning it was off to the Grand Canyon. I would recommend that any one going there by car use the East entrance through Cameron. You can drive to the viewpoints and they are not crowded. If you use the visitor center via the West entrance you must park in a huge lot and the shuttle bus takes you and a million others to the view points. What a cluster. We are starting with some shots on the way up there and then the canyon shots. Oh yeah I forgot some of the Red Rock Canyon shots. That's it for this one, gotta go the fairgrounds. BB
The truck looks to be a mid 50's Chevy panel. The last shot looks like Bell Rock on the north side of Oak Creek.
Shoulda given me a shout BoB ! Mammoth is near Jerome ( kinda ) Glad you enjoyed your stay in the beautiful state of ARIDzona !
