My oh my, aren't these two rigs the coolest. Thanx for posting these and any more you might find. Gary
Here is my 32 channeled, widened on a 41 ford frame roadster built in 1952 in Colorado. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525272&highlight=piata<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> <!-- vBulletin.register_control("vB_ProfilefieldEditor", "1"); //--> </SCRIPT>
NO, I never did find any more pics of the T for Two. Too bad because it was the coolest car around in my book. After it burned the chassis was lengthend a bit and other mods were done to make it a 70s Street Rod and it just never was as nice. I'm sure the car is still out there somewhere - probably around Michigan or Ohio. Last know engine was a 428 Cobra jet. It would be cool to know where it went. Here's a few more pics
Check out the Lyndwood Eliminators social group here on the HAMB for 50's dragster pics. All are welcome.
The little black A Cabriolet was first built with a Y block from a '56 Merc, then converted to a Buick Nailhead and it was blown. Ran 98 MPH in the quarter with those skinny little tires - Awesome. Most of the ELDragos are still around although a few have passed away. I think only one of them is still involved with Hot Rods today - he has a nice '53 Ford pickup, reversed rims with a flatty and a hood scoop they used on the '53 Ford big trucks. He also has one of the nicest '55 Birds I've ever seen - Mercury wagon tailights, real Halibrands, stock Y block with a little Holley on it. Nice!
MARK! _ Just found another copy of the Rodding and Restyling magazine from 1964 on EBAy - I got it for $12.00! I gave your copy to Roy - he never saw the magazine even though he knew they had done the feature. He was super excited to get it but now that I found a good T Coupe body I was kinda wishing I had it back. Really glad to find another copy. Trigger and Ed are coming down for a visit soon to see metal master Jim Bailie and they're gonna deliver the dropped axle etc. I bought for the T - come on down with them if you can.
wow...great post of this beautiful era,,i love to see the clothing that guys wear in 50s...i love the 40s 50s lifestyle..
I just saw this post for the first time thanks to fellow Windsorite BRENT. I had to bump it for any Windsor area guys that may have missed it too. It is very inspiring to see how many great rods existed in this area. Thanks for posting.
Hey Ragtop, "some of these older guys won't part with their pics long enough for me to get them copied" ...don't know if if you've ever tried to use the iphone as a scanner to take pictures of pictures, but it works pretty well. might be an option when guys don't want to part with pictures. My sister did a bunch of family photos and I was amazed at how well they turned out.
Could this be roy desjardins old 40 chev was told its from the windsor area it came with no vin or ownership does anybody know what happened to that car
Could very well be Vandit. There weren't to many chopped 40 Chevy coupes around. A guy named Paul Marion owned that car for a while too.
Here's a couple of pics of a deuce 5 window that a friend of mine in Michigan still owns. These pics are from 1961 when the car had a 318 Poly motor in it, It now has a 406 Ford in it and was just redone for Autorama this spring. An old friend of Will's had heard our story of finding the T Bird Deuce and wondered if I could ID this coupe that he had photographed back then. Sure enough. Took me all of 2 seconds to realize who's car it was and I was able to tell him where the car is now. Sure made the owner's day because he had no old pics of this cool little coupe
That last pic of the rear 3/4 view....now that made my day. that is the old days right there. Awesome
Jeez! Thats perfect, absolutely PERFECT. Funny, F&J and I were typing the same thought at the same time...again.
I go through these threads and I am simply delighted and amazed. Some incredible photos and incredible cars. I can look at them all night - and probably will! Here is "Bernadine". On the left from 1958 with my uncle driving - on the right it's me driving in 2008 - 50 years later almost to the day in the partially restored but not quite finished version of the car: Here she is at the very first auto show in 1958 in Fort Wayne, Indiana: And the article about the show in the local newspaper: MuttHappy
I have noticed that lots of the "ratrods" in and around Austin are owned by very young guys who haven't scored a good-paying job because they are just beginning to experience life as a rodder. As they get older and land jobs with liveable wages, they will meld into the community of streetrodder-hotrodder and build cool cars. We all had to start somewhere.
Ya got me there. Roy's having some health problems so I don't like to bother him. There's a lot of Desjrdins around though
