Thanks Friend! I learned a ton - from the older guy in the pictures - it's his shop that we built it in. He's a master fabricator that used to build and work on ships and pipelines in Alaska - he has a few custom trucks that he's built himself over the years but he never stretched one like this before - He just thought out the whole process - and figured out how to do it all on his own - I think he's pretty brilliant. We almost didn't stretch the truck - he asked me at one point - You don't want me to spend all summer stretching that truck do you??? It will be alot of work... I said - If you're up for it - I am!! hahaha! :) Of course my buddy - followed through with the whole project and figured it all out. :) It was awesome to get to spend the last year learning and working with him on this!! :)

Picked up this really cool 42 at an auction on Saturday. Cab is super solid and very part is there. I've been looking for a long time and I'm pretty dang happy with this truck.

What a great find, Looks in pretty good shape.

You sound as pleased as I was when I bought my truck 2nd February 2012, and shipped from Arkansas to the UK, and it did not get to me until August 2012 due to paperwork

Risky I know, but this was mine bought from a photograph.

  17. Al, when I look at the shop(?) you are working in, I think I should stop Jonesing and get to work! LOL Where there is a will, there is a way! Keep up your good work.

    Steve,
It was a case of needs must. I have a garage and workshop at the rear of the house but the truck would not fit in and I could not get it around there either.
I also have a very very VERY understanding wife.
She let me take out the conifers and put up the temporary workshop.
I did a lot of work on the truck on the driveway, but as winter approached I put it inside to carry on.
However when its done, hopefully by the end of this year, the temp workshop will come down and all will be good in the garden and on the driveway again.

A couple of pictures of putting up what all my friends call "The Forensic tent".
    Lol

Al, are you going to keep the steering on the correct side ;-) or move it to the wrong side so it'll be correct for your roads? It's looking great BTW.

I am certainly keeping it on the correct side !:D, all my hot rods and this truck are left hand drive,
it's the only way to go. :p:D
Thanks by the way, I am pleased so far.

    Howdy Gents,

Been reading this thread for a while now, and I just love all the different variations of COE's that appear on these pages, and of course, all the hard work and sweat that has gone into transforming some of them.

I have a bit of identity crisis I was wondering if anyone can help me with - while lurking on the interweb and looking at all the COE pics out there, I came across this pic of a COE that I thought was sensational:

The caption said it was a '40 Diamond T, but it doesnt look like any 509SC that I have ever seen - is it a Dodge????

    Cheers,
    Tricky

  29. I really like this GMC, and have used some of the details in the plan for my Autocar.
Can anyone tell me who made the wheels on it? I found one set of 4, but need two more rears to do my tandem. I can't find any markings on the set I have.

  30. Some of you guys may remember this truck, A friend of mine owns it now and is looking for some help with ideas. He's not in love with the "Cow Catcher" bumper, and the widened front fenders dwarf the original headlights out in the corners of the new slabs of steel. Anyone want to take a stab at photoshopping some more fitting headlights and turn signals in to the fenders and maybe soften that bumper a little so people don't think it's a Mad Max prop?

I was thinking late 50's Caddy dual headlights and markers, or '58/'59 GMC with a '55/'56 GMC hood emblem tunneled into the hood? Got better ideas? Let's hear them. Better yet, let's see them!
