I'm considering installing a Weiand Daul Quad intake on my 1961 Bonneville. Motor has been freshened, with .020 cleanup, other than that a poorly installed Tripower. My question is, what little pitfalls might I run into, and what carburetion is best for this application. In stock form (Single 4bbl) it makes about 280 hp @4400. Thanks GBGH
what's wrong with the tri power? I would stick to that if it were me but why was it poorly installed? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I was talking with "Carbking" [Jon] here on the HAMB regarding this very subject some time back. Only difference is I'm using an Offy intake. He recommended AFBs in number 3300 and 3326. These came on early 60s Pontiac 389s and I began collecting them, hoping to get two good ones out of the 7 or 8 I bought. I finally got my engine built and broke it in on the stand with a single 3326. Thinking I'll get all my ducks in a row [clean and dis***emble all the extra carbs for extra jets/metering rods etc] and buy some dyno time to get the dual quads dialed in correctly.
More properly, poorly rebuilt......biggest problem is finding decent replacement carbs, the ones on the motor have been mauled to death Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
