  2. When I first saw the car doing the wheelie a few years ago I was under the impression it was a Brookville car..

being a real Henry it is worth the effort to save it for the family history if nothing else. HRP

@ Groucho - Replaced the starter, the bad one must have gotten hot or something that day.

  4. Glad you didn't lose the ring teeth on the flywheel. It sounded pretty bad that night. Love your car!

@ Groucho - ya me too it sounded nasty! Thanks for the advice that night and sorry if I was snappy, you know how it is when everyone crowds around the guy with the car problems and suddenly everyone is a mechanic haha. But the car is running great, spun the tires a bit at Fontana but I managed to pull out an 11.49 @ 114 MPH so I'm stoked!

  7. No worries. That's a good pass. Probly felt even faster in that low car. Chevy's don't respond to shimming. At least I've never seen it in all my yrs of wrenching. I learned what I told you from a local roundy round racer back in the 70's. I was pulling my hair out. I've passed on the trick many times, including my friend Larry Dixon Jr, back in the 80's when we were street race buddies long before his career with Prudhome. I didn't know til I called him for something else that he'd been fucking with it all weekend. Half hour later he called me, giggling like a little girl he was so happy. As weirdness would have it I also passed it on earlier today to a friend in Simi with a 396 that he'd been shimming for 2 days without any luck. He said he's never heard of that before, but he's a believer now. BTW, if you ever have this ailment again and have no access to another starter.......you basically file across the area of the starter nose that mates with the engine block.....pretty much across and including the 2 mount bolt holes at least til those recesses around the bolt holes are gone (see photo). "IF" you file too much, don't worry, THEN you can correct with a shim
