The is a big old car auction happing in Spruce Grove, Alberta Canada on Aug 15 and 16. Before you book flights to attend the " Barrett Jackson of the North" Have a look at the pics. The inventory is rusted out, parted out, collision damaged crap. While there are some interesting body styles the only ones bidding consistently will be the scrap dealers. http://www.sekuraauctions.com/upcoming-auctions/auction-78
Man, if that was close to me, I'd be draggin' a couple of projects home. With that quantity, there are going to be some great deals.
easy! you shoulf get formal paperwork from auction house, call them and ask. be sure to write down name of person you spoke with, date, time and their title within auction company! always good to ask if their will be notary on site and their fee rate.
Looks like a huge sale and the place to be for anyone looking for a project . I would also say it would be hard to find that many 60 chevy convertibles for sale in any one place anywhere else.
Keep in mind that we don't use titles up here. Simply a bill of sale. Not sure but you guys down south seem to have lots of issues with lost titles.
While most of these cars look rough in the pics, they are for the most part complete. Murray would buy a convertible, a hard top and a 4 door of the same car to build one. He never sells parts, and rarely let anyone in the yard. A friend just bought a 57 hardtop from him. Had all of the trim as well as quarter panels and fenders in the car, most of everything needed to build it, plus a few spares. All of the little hard to find parts are in most of these cars, and many are going to go across the block as packages together. There are some nice 57 buicks in there and a really solid Safari wagon. There are so many lots that I think there may be a few good buys in there. The Grove cruise is also the same weekend, usually a few Hamb cars and good people there too Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Advantage of having so many lots is that some bidders may be spread thin and have to be selective on what few lots they (can afford to) aggressively go after. Therefore, a car builder may find he has less competition when bidding. May even only have to pay a bit over scrap by outbidding the scrappers. There shouldn't be anyone bitching that the scrappers hauled off X amount of "good" cars. I noticed the 50/51 Mercs have a # on them other than the auction listing#, such as 3000, 3200. Wonder if that's the starting bid and cars w/o the second # have no reserve? At any rate, there looks to be some solid 50's projects.
I missed it by going to Spokane. Most of the cars went between 2-400 bucks Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
