I been putting work on my 59 wagon and came across a problem. I need to swap out the engine mounts the guy put in before me. The engine*****s way to high and the transmission angle will never be right. I want to change over the mounts. It guy before me welded a plate over the factory hole mount. And it is not a plate but a peice of angle iron. The car was a V6 does that matter with the engine mounts are are the holes the same for a 8 and 6. I read on here about so many engine mounts that could work. I also have to change the cross member for the C6 that is bolted up to it. . This is my first hotrod project and I am learning that is for sure.

I don't know of any commercially available swap mounts for this combination (that doesn't mean they aren't available, I just don't know of any). If that is the case, this swap is no different than any other. Simply cut off the added on mounts and lower the engine into place and see what it would take to make the engine mount where you have it.

I have always used 1963 Falcon Sprint motor mounts because they fit almost all sbf engines and are a simple through bolt design. Take some cardboard and cut up pieces that will form the pads to bolt the mounts to and duplicate those in steel.
Any swap like this is trial and error, but I hope someone knows of some available swap mounts that will make your life easier.

I can cut out what is there pretty easy. the butchcool stuff is worth a call. By the option I guess a six is different. I have read there are a few factory ford mounts that will work. Just wanted to know what people have used.

292 frame mount and 64 289 Comet engine mounts should mount
Front. This worked on a 57 Ford I did.

Ford never made a V6 in any American car in 1959. Perhaps you mean the 223, which was an inline six cylinder engine, not a vee configuration.

Yes it was a 223. But is the straight 6 mounting holes the same as a V8?

The ones in post #5 look like they're close. This is how your frame should look if you still have the stock tabs on it. If you have your 351 on hand, you can probably mock up some basic mounts from wood and see how the engine adapts to those. Below is a link to the Anchor catalog. I would rough scale the mount from the 2 locating holes that are in the block and make up something to help you out.

  10. I am no expert so please don't quote me on this but I know that 1970s Ford F150 motor mounts will make an SBF bolt into a '55/'56 Ford. I don't know if yours originally being an I6 or being a bit newer would work.

  11. P.S. If you private message JeffB2 on here he will know for sure. He is THE parts catalogue for 1950s Fords. I always ask him on here about parts before I order them.

I used the late 70's f-150 motor mounts to mount a 302 in my brothers 59, spaced outward 1 inch on 1/4 inch plate. Same as the 289 in my 59 Ranchero, which used the mustang mounts, once again spaced out 1 inch to set the engine height. F150 mounts were substantially cheaper at the time.

  13. Iv'e always used the Anchor brand mounts # 2725 & 2726, no modification needed. Reasonable priced around $10-$15 each depending on where you buy em

Nice, they look like they should work out well. The Anchor catalog is a must have for such swaps.

Anchor mounts look great. So will they just bolt in? No plates or anything needed.

  16. I guess I never had to do anything else when using these mounts, it's like they were made for that swap
