Wow hope he pulls through. Would be tough to lose another Detroit ( Downriver ) legend. He has overcome a lot in his life and has to be one of the hardest working men ever!
I will have a cigar in the garage for him tomorrow. Posted using a number two pencil on a paper napkin.
His son Mike was my friend and room mate in the early 70s' when he had his Lynwood shop. I hope Bill's OK.
Hope that Bill bounces back. I remember meeting him at a custom show back in the 90s, and how nice and gracious he was to my 10 year old son. He's one of a kind. Get well, Bill
Get well & btt of prayer/HAMb Chappell. He's one of the legends of legends. I met him in Salina KKOA last few yrs & watch in awe as he chops & sections a 3day custom outside in 105*F. So if I'm ever feeling a little too sore or tired, I should just imagine Bill Hines kickin' my *** & smiling with his cigar like he's a teenager. What a bad *** dude. Keep fightin BILL!
As hot as it's supposed to be in Salina, it wouldn't be good for him there. He has been a fixture at that show; cigar and all. Get well.
I've been fearing this sort of news for a long time. With as many heros of this hobby as we have lost in recent years I just hate to see another one, especially Bill, not well. He will be in my prayers tonight for sure. More than a talent, he seems like a hell of a nice man. Don
I texted Brad Masterson he said bill is back at home. But still sick.. I guess that's sorta good news?? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Glad to hear Bill is at home, being with family in a familiar environment goes a long way to healing. Bill and his family are still in my prayers.HRP
Putting this back on the first page for Bill. A helluva guy. Somebody post a pic of his business card, one of the best ones ever. Hang tough, Bill
What a living legend.. wonder if the lead fumes and cigars kept him going all these years. All the best to Bill Hines!
Going to miss wild Bill , what an artist in lead . nobody better . Started very young at Chrysler , Back in the 40's . I'm 70 and remember him from when I was a teenager living in California . you can bet he'll have a hell of a set of wings . I know I sound grim . maybe feeling sorry for myself before he's gone . I don't want to miss a minuet to greave and remember him for as long as I can . hoping for the best , He's a tough old bird .
Be well BILL!!! great man! visited him in '05 and he stopped what he was doing to BS about everything under the sun....got my mug on a pic with Bill.....
