You guys are killin' me!! Its sad to admit but I'm only feeling VERY threatened as a model builder now!! Old Coyote, said it before, and I'll say it again. That is some killer work mate! Froghawk, I love the modification you are doing, that is the way I love to build but haven't been doing much lately! Energy, I dig the FJ, can I ask where you got it from?? Here's one I just dragged out, built from the parts box in 1/25. Parts from 2 AMT 32 5window body's with a Revell 32 3window roof. And this, another parts box build, this time a lakes car, body is I think...........56 Ford body, 57 Chev funnycar roof front and the rear of an AMT (?)57 Ford roof. Chassis is a narrowed NASCAR unit and the rest is from brass or the bottom of the parts box! When I was a kid, I grew up in a Hot Rodding family so believe it or not I got bored of hot rods and got into old Aeroplanes when young! Joined Air Cadets and a local Aero museum and built a shitload of aircraft models! So still converting to car models, long way away from the scratch building level in cars but one day! Some of you have seen this already, as it's been posted on some modeling sites, but I thought I'd share the finished product of my '51 Henry J lead sled that I started 2 years ago. I posted a couple of progress photos here about a year ago, but here it is all done:
Owning a 90 Mustang hatchback I had hoped they would produce a model of one but the closest they came was to create a 90 notchback. I purchased the kit and with an old donor GT kit I started the top chop. Enough material was removed so that I wouldn't come up short when grafting the old roof onto the new body. It matched up fairly well and required only a small amount of filler and massaging. The body was primed to check for any flaws and then wet sanded prior to applying MCW lacquer paint in my car's color, Wild Stawberry. The interior pan took a little work to get it to fit right as did the old GT windows.
That Henry J is waaaay cool. Very well done. The Mustang is beautiful and has very good detail. Paint looks really good. Tim
I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting in this thread on a Monday, but I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed looking at everyone's great builds. You all are doing some killer work. Also, thank you for the kind words on the Henry J.
About time I found this, been lookin' fora couple of weeks. Even 2 minutes ago, this post does not come up in "Search' function. Am I the only one having grief? Pure fluke that I found this today. Cheers Rod
