    And Saltflats:
Whatever you bring is sure to be cool.
I think you could get your lawnmower to run 12's if you had a little time to apply those tuning skills:)

SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! Be there at the Byron Dragway, the playground of power, to witness a battle for the ages decided on the 1/4 mile battlefield! It's a classic Ford vs Chevy showdown when Jeff "the Silent Assassin" Koopmeiner faces off against Scott "the Wizard of Words" Archer! Jeff will be wheelin' the gorgeous but deadly "Lakeshore Spanker" 57 Chevy with it's flawless burgundy paint, gold leaf lettering and classic Cragar SS wheels! Scott will be at the helm of his battle tested 66 Mustang the "Okie Doker Smoker" with it's nasty 289, stealth black paint & period correct lettering! Last year Scott ate Moon Sprocket's 56 Chevy for an appetizer! This year he's lookin' to take Jeff's 57 out to the wood shed! Jeff has had many a duel with his brother Eric "Koop" Koopmeiner and his beautiful 55 Chevy! Now Jeff wants to put the blue oval in a pine box for good! Don't miss this 1/4 mile showdown!

Marcus, you could have written copy for Drag News or any one of Isky's "Gasser War" ads from back in the heyday...That was absolutely brilliant!

    And Ric:
As always, you walk that fine line between cracking me up,and making me fear for the safety of you and others nearby you....lol!

    You guys kill me man!:D

Can't wait to see y'all next year, and maybe you better bring both Sons this time so no premature aging occurs while you are gone?:)

If I can keep the lid on Ric, we're gonna hold our smack talk until we have our stuff sorted out too! We ate 2 days worth of crow this year and got it sorted out Sunday when most people had left and weren't there to see it run the way it shoulda run all weekend. It's gonna be difficult though because he's a master of smack talkin'! I'm gonna try to keep him aimed at stirrin' the pot with the guys from the North in it so they end up turning on each other...you know like Scott and Jeff are doin' now! :D (Insert popcorn here)

Man! I came up with some good mix ups of Jeff's Okie Doker name, but now I'm afraid to post 'em after the way Jeff ran Ric through with his words! You cut him real deep Jeff! I called to make sure he was OK and all I heard on the other end was whimpering and the sound of him thumbing his bottom lip! I'm torn...my brother just got shanked with a pat on my back for my driving...what to do, what to do...

Scott you had to bring up the lawnmower. I had to replace the gearbox on that beast after I got home from the melt down just in time for this lovely Mo weather(96 deg 106 heat index) I lost another 3 lbs that evening.

Wrenchbender I will be looking you up cant wait to see the digger I need some inspiration.

Ric I thought the melt down would be a good shake down for the Chevelle to get it ready for drag week.

    GMC When Bought.JPG GMC Now.JPG 326 Pontiac A.jpg 326 Pontiac B.jpg

Since there isn't a 2015 thread yet, I'll post this here.

This is what I'm building for next year's Meltdown. A 59 GMC with a 326 Pontiac, Muncie 4 speed, and a 59 Pontiac posi rear axel....Complete with 6 lug wheels.

Yeah, it's being built for towing, so I can trailer my 55. By the way, these photos are a few years old, (haven't got the new pics scanned , yet). The engine is done....Basically stock, but bored .040, with a Edelbrock P4B, 650 Holley, headers, Cal Custom valve covers and air cleaner. I'm currently rebuilding the Muncie.

Thanks Scott. It only took about 20 years to get it that way.

It was running a bit slower this year. Quickest time was only a 14:45. After an all time best, last year of 14:04, I was really hoping to break into the 13's. Guess, I should of changed the plugs and wires, or something... I saw where you were pitted, but never caught up with you there.

  15. ...here's a better pic of John's 55...they don't come any nicer...

Have they started taking entry's for next year yet? Curious to see if there will be a cutoff.

  23. This had a mild bugity bugity cammed oval port 454, Richmond aluminum case Super T10 and 4.10 Dana, when he bought it. The 454 has since been wounded (spun rod bearing). Marc has a new 9.5:1 square port 460" beater that made 580HP on the water wheel, and a 5speed for now. There is a 565 bad boy that needs to be finished, and we've talked about dropping that pump gas 410 in it (after I put some stiffer oil rings in it). This car had a zesty 582 & Jerico in it a couple years ago, and ran 9.80's.

I was going to tow the Studebaker to the Meltdown with the 55 but I talked myself out of it. I have a set of tow hubs for the olds rear end so the rear end doesn't turn
