Hot Rods 1932 ford pickup found after years of looking for one

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hb32, Aug 23, 2014.

  1. Gonna need a lot of work but this followed me home today :)
Drivable at least we got her on and off the trailer.
Rough and mismatched parts but it works for me.

Wow, I'd be happy with that. Great score!

  3. Works for me too, very cool. What's ya Gina do with it?

  4. Gonna get her running properly, clean up the wiring, fix or replace the gages, pound out a few dents etc. Clean er up and put some miles on before the rainy season begins.

Very cool! Put that puppy on a really low hot rod stance and enjoy it, stock running gear and all. Love it!

That sure doesn't look rough. Looks real good. It should make a nice hot rod.

  14. No rodding it planned and going to leave the banger in it for now. Probably going to look at a 59ab install several years down the road.
Lots of dents covered with mud but appears to be fairly rust free.
Wiring is a mess with lots of extra***** added through out the years.
Runs, and we drove it on/off the trailer but needs work on the carb.
Presently has a passenger shell and insert, which are really nice but want a commercial on it. Hood has had some interesting repairs so looking for a decent one of those as well.
Tailgate and box are well used.
Overall not to bad considering its age and that it is all there.
Lots of thumbs up dragging this back from the interior of British Columbia [IMG]

Do the rewireing and get it running correctly. Don't touch the body. You can have fun telling everyone you are going to fix it some day. You can drive yours evey day, while they are fixing theirs for years or never own one.

  16. Exactly where I am heading with this pickup.
I spent over 12 years getting my roadster to the drivable stage and regret every sunny day that it sat in the garage, getting it to look good for everyone else.
Need to get the mechanicals up to road worthy standards, clean up the years of macgyvers and get it somewhat presentable.

  18. Oh man, she is a beauty!
    Congrats on getting it!
I loved the reactions I got bringing my '33 back from Penticton.

The front 32 and 34 fenders are no where close to each other, however the 32 -34 truck rear fenders are virtually identical. HRP

    Very cool find!

  23. Thanks for the replies and really excited to get this one up and road worthy.
Needs a lot of work in the detail department mostly cleaning up the Macgyver modifications through out its life.
Going to lean on this group and several others for hints, tips and suggestions to get it up to snuff.
Todays task is to determine what is wrong with the instrument cluster.
Not planning on a 100% correct restored truck but a presentable driver.
Here is what I have and know the gage on the left is wrong as well as the rocker switch.
What should be in place of the switch? What is missing to the right of the fuel gage?
Presently the choke is bolted to the bottom of the dash to the right of the tunnel, is this correct?

Always like these. Like the idea of being banger powered. Are you changing over to hyd. brakes? Good luck and have fun.

  25. The pull knob to the left should be the throttle on a B model,
a rod should attach to the spoon pedal , the one one the right is the choke.
I don't believe there should be a hole where the rocker switch is.
The gauge to the left is an ammeter. Not sure if yours is correct or not.
    I read yesterday the '32's have a +/- 20, but 33-34's have +/- 30 amps
I think I have this right, if not, someone will correct me

The knobs are as follows,,to the left is the throttle knob,to the right is the choke, and where someone has added the rocker switch should be the dash lights.

The images of the knobs are not in the correct order.HRP

HRP: What would the knob on the column drop be for?

Ignition on and off toggle and lock. HRP

  29. The knob on the column drop attaches to something that looks like a choke cable. It is used to operate the switch that is bolted to the top of the starter. Late '32 had a foot controlled starter switch and a plug in this location.
