I dig the concept but school bus comes to mind when I see the profile...maybe a 3 inch section would slick it up some. great work (forget my critical eyes...I just woke up)
Hey can you turn my dodge into a Ferrari, please, please, please? Wow, lookin good clark. When are you going to start teaching metal shaping classes? You and sawzall could teach, I'd sign up for that. later shawn
Ford should have made one! Hell I've had people ask me how I put the windows in my 65 Suburban! You're looking good, a lot of work still to do but an a%$ load already done!
Rik Hoving's site has pics of the '48 Sedan turned into one. http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_...ford_custom_cars/to_be_sorted46_48/page2.html
I've wondered for 50 years why Ford never built a suburban styled vehicle. Leave it to you to correct their stupidity. Great project. Too bad it already has a home.
STRanger ..... sport truck ranger .... no stranger ford ever made ! what no bubble? ahh the running board dilema !! leave the front as if it were a pick up (stop at door edge )and have the side door unit slide out like a old camper / van (remember those? ) when the door opens it comes out from underneath..
You do nice work. I like the way you did the windows , will add more strength and easier to finish the insides that way. Could extend the runningboards and add the third brace as found on the pickups, just round the front of the rear fender. Stock f1 runningboards might just fit as the frames are the same.
Brewsir...I'll see if we can paint it yellow just for you Thanks for all the input! I'll update this as I get more done. Should be more weekly. Clark
That is 'way-Cool",..I dig the trend towards usable space, long-roofs are cool. He'll be haulin everyone's stuff to the shows ( including his own), and that's a good thing. Looks to be a great state-to-state highway cruiser. keep up the good work.
Great work, I'm curious to see what you'll do inside. I think you should call it the Ford Scout, or Scout Sport? It'd be great at shows, "my dad had a Ford Scout just like that one, except his was blue."
More models that ford never made. This is what I do for the next meal.I cut ,weld hammer and dolly em (no english wheels or power equipment ) Then reproduce em in fiberglass. I do one offs if the guy has enough money.I plan to put pics of the origional metal work on when I get time. www.aaltered.com
Any pictures of the finished Product ? FORD never made one like mine either. People see them and think it was an assembly line body style . I can appreciate what it took to accomplish this one.
Just to clear something up, Ford made a Suburban type of vehicle just not in the US. That said, I like your concept, looks good from where I sit.
dang, would love to see a picture, now I gotta do some searchin' I dig what he is doing with this one. Interested to see what Ford did and how it looks compared to his vision here.
Ford built the Ford version of the suburban in Mexico that I know of. The rumor is that there was some sort of a corporate deal with GM over it. Maybe that will help with your search. This is not to take away from the OPs build, I like it. But I am an odd duck (bicho raro ) I like things utilitarian.
Your Idea is a good, but certainly not original. Check my custom built 48 Explorer in the Sept 2000 issue of Street Rodder, pages 194 thru 200. The original design came from Steve Stanford and was in Truckin magazine. Fred Montesanto of The Hot Rod Shop in Simi Valley, CA built the car for me beginning in 1998.
That is why I asked for current photos , as it took me 4 years of nights and weekends to finish my 33 , thinking his must be done by now ?
I've seen allot of guys go the other way to 'create a Delivery"...(some the easy way just covering the windows and paneling the inside) Don't think I've seen on Nutz enough to go this way...lots more work! Awesome work Man!..can't wait to see it finished! Tommy
