Over the last year I have been collecting Model A s**** parts, basically reject parts from other Hotrod builds, from farm paddocks, under work benches, swap meets and many wanted ads. What I don't have, have up sold, down sold, it's always evolving and if something becomes impossible to find or just too expensive I look at other ways to continue. Originally started with a crushed cowl then it really started. Few random pictures of my s**** ***y. Update,,,, Well that's not quite true, really it all started with finding a F5 cab and a 27 chev ch***is, some F1 brakes, diff. All was to start building a R_t cab, eventually decided this was not a smart build, sold the ch***is, diff, F5 cab and this give some funds to the start of My A build Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. After working on them with my mig using flux core wire this is where I am at with them Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
After I done my repairs to the door posts I was not happy with the amount of heavy pitting so I ordered bottom patches from Snyders The stanchion posts were broken off completely on one and the other just hanging on for dear life, luckily I has the missing bit that came with the post Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. After the repairs were done, Off to the blasters to see what I had Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I don't want to use any plastic filler in it anywhere, after blasting the tank had heavy pitting at the top seam, thought I will try soldering it and while I am at it fill a few other pits in the door posts, using flux core makes it very hard to get a clean finish. The actual plan for my build is like these 2 I found on the net. Will be banger powered, auto Torqueflight 904, banjo diff, F1 brakes and lower steering but using Model A steering box. The F1 complete front axle I picked up has rare RHD steering arms, originally came out to Australia from South Africa. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
My engine came out of a paddock only a few miles from home. Mid 28 with the early beaver tail crank, 5 bearing cam but only 3 bearings in block. Being that the head was sitting about 5mm off the block exposed the bores to the elements, it just cleaned up at .125 over Will be insert rod and main, standard oiling system. Undecided on head and intake Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
The rear of my cab, doors, seat, trim, side curtains and even the fixed roof all came out of Sydney. Came from a RPU that's being extended,,,doors and cab rear. I picked up his take offs Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Love where you are headed with this build, I like the style of the Baige RPU above. Good luck with it. JW
Thanks 26T Yes the beige one with the roof from the black one is the plan. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
The Beige one has a similar style and stance to my 26 RPU. I'm going to enjoy following your build. JW
Hi Colin, don't hold your breath. Will be a SLOW build. Finding work is now my priority, searched the net again today for work. Over all Nth Vic there is less than 500 jobs on Seek. Most are high professional roles. Might be back in Melbourne by November. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Still in the parts collection stage but most sheet metal now rust free. Have picked up a working 904 slant 6 Torqueflite auto, a good Aussie steering box/column with working accelerator pedal ***y, picking up this week a banjo diff with hydraulic brakes, open driveline and 5 on 4 1/2, don't know what ratio it is but do know it was setup by a mob in Sydney that was well known for banjo custom speedway diffs (no idea on who this was/is) My wife has had me work on out 1958 Carapark Caravan and my Mustang has taken some time too Some random photos Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. This has been taking too much time. Trying to save as much of the original ply as we can. Beautifully built and like a aircraft in engineering Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Hi Rich nice looking van important keeping the boss happy and the parts are coming along nicely Just finished a engine with lots of goodies inside if you or someone you know is interested
Have wheels, 16" Ford Mainline. As the diff is 5 on 4 1/2 will have to change front F1 hubs over to 5 on 4 1/2 to match,,,,,Have a few ideas on how to do that, going to try 11" Galaxy drums and a few different Ford hubs I have and see if anything can match. Ch***is finally back from blasters, been with them a month and get it back Xmas eve, when u have heaps on,,, Anyway. Put the middle xmember in and fitted a replacement front xmember. Ch***is is a very early AR I think, had the parking brake holes in the ch***is, not bolted from the bottom and lots of different bolt holes else ware too. Front xmember is a later 30/31 I think,, Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
