You really need the body code which may be just below the VIN. That has all the vehicle information like color, body style, engine, axle, etc.
Well, that brings up an interesting thought...were all cars made in Canada Canadian models, or did they make the American models in Canada as well?
Sorry to hijack your post Ian, but I need some help with this too. I got a 1952 victoria from a friend. It was in an accident a long time ago so the firewall and door jambs have been hacked on. All if the info plates have been removed. They put a 1954 frame under it so it has the y block and updated suspension for that year. The frame is in good condition and the number that is stamped on the frame rail in front of the radiator is ARIZMVD531633. I've tried decoding it on several websites and it never comes up with anything. The DMV has no record of it either. I'm trying to get a ***le for it and get it registered. Any help is appreciated. Need to register it in California.
No. That's the only info I could find on the whole car. I know there are two hidden vins somewhere else on the ch***is, but I'm not about to pull my engine or body to find them.
Your car has been officially reidentified at some point in time. Most likely in Arizona from the new-issued VIN. On the car frame there may be a number. Look on the top of the frame on the p***enger side between the upper a-arm going down towards the firewall. My '59 had the VIN there too. You should be able to see it with a little effort.
Haha sorry I didn't know they could officially do that. When I reregister it, should I use the original or reidentified vin?
I don't know what you have on the transferrable registration or ***le. I'd hope it would match your ARIZ designation. What happens, if a car is recovered or has no VIN plate, the DMV office does some sort of a search, even some police departments get involved to make sure that the car isn't stolen. In the end , the car is issued a new VIN that can be traced. In your case, you may want to talk to the DMV in Arizona. I'd find it odd that they would have no record of it.
This is my '54 frame where the VIN is located, I sanded the location of the VIN so you have a better idea of where to look. If I remember correctly the VIN may have been covered by the inner fender when it was together. I'm sure there is a way to see it without total dis***embly.
Everything you would want to know about decoding a 1954 Ford but a '53 is just a different animal. Some of this information may crossover. HRP http://www.1954ford.com/page3.php
