I have joined the the ranks of 32 owners. I bought this all steel car from the estate of an eighty-five year old gentleman. It has a 283 w/powerglide,ford 9" rear, front disc/rear drum brakes. Now before you start throwing rotten vegetables at me,yes the wheels have got to go. I am thinking wire wheels possibly. The spare under the cover is a wire wheel. I think we would all agree the front end needs lower some. I am not real familiar 32's,I assume a reverse eye spring would be the place to start. I plan to add a set of 3 2's carbs this winter. Open to any advice on wheel/tire sizes for a big & little look.
Well, you've crossed over to the dark side. 3W Larry will be along shortly to collect your dues and issue your Deuce ID card. Frank
Lucky guy! Ditch the wheels and dump the front and you're rollin'. I vote for steel wheels and Ford caps, but that's just me and sadly it's not mine.
Beautiful car. Yeah, drop the front some. Personally, I couldn't live with that old lady interior pattern..
This is only pic I have the 283 so far, it's nothing special just an early 60's base 283. I must of got one of those rare ones that wasn't a Corvette engine.
I have been looking at a lot of pics of 32's. I am down too Wheel Vintiques wires or steelies. Even though a lot of 32's have steelies, they seem to be the best choice.
I got the car from ratrod0.....didn't have it but about 2 months and da34guy beat me out of it......you could drive that car 75-85 all day long down the highway and it never darted or wabbled any...it was one of the BEST driving Hot Rods I've ever owned...........da34guy has put about 4000 miles on it since he got it........it does have the right stance for sure.
It's an "old lady interior" mostly because of the color. That "different pattern is probably very period appropriate for when the car was built. The pattern is called hounds tooth and was very popular at one time. Here's an example where it was used more recently and of course you can find it in some 69 Camaros.
I picked this up at a local swap meet this past weekend. Fenton manifold with Rochesters. A little sprucing up and it will be just what my little 283 needs.
Nice man. Not that I am a fan of the spare wheel cover, but at least it's equipped for driving. Looks like a winner, to drive for a bit...at the least. I'm sure all will change in time, as you tinker with it. I love black cars, and a nice leather of sorts would look great in there. You live in a good part of the country to cruise. The head waters of my dad's family is about an hour away..........Beckley, WV. Lots of awesome, scenery. Have fun with your new car.
