Notice how the gears are split. This is so you can replace them without having to remove the axle.It makes it easy to change from road going gears to competition gears. RHH pis... 10649910_10204644643694229_1056126947133141963_n.jpg

I remember searching for detailed information on F-N chain drive a few years ago and finding very little - and some blatant misinformation. It's here at last.

I've considered before that it would be quite practical to rig a differential on a F-N by making the axle hollow. It would add a bit of weight but the chain drive does not in any way necessitate a "solid spool" situation.

[IMG] It has to be 40 years ago that I first saw Alden flying down the road in his Amilcar. That left a lasting impression, great guy with a really nice car show in his honor later this month. He's over 90, wonder if the Amilcar has been over 90? Bob

Not mine Tom.Looks like England or somewhere in Europe. I like how simple everything is.Almost like a Grumann canoe. No large sheets of metal. No complex bends or shapes.

Yeah Bob, it looks like whoever built it had experience in aircraft fabrication.

I must confess that I've always liked the odd little cycle cars , however I had no idea of how many and so much interest, I find myself coming back to this thread constantly to see anything new , just great

The number-plate on the Renault might have been informative, but I can't make it out. I do note the word "sold" in English inside the aluminium body. I can't tell much from the construction of the buildings, either, except that the little I can see of conventional permanent construction appears to be masonry of some sort, be it brick or low-density concrete/cinder like the bit of screen wall, which is not typical of North America. I'd guess England, though it could be right here in Cape Town for all I know.
