Thank you Rusty! I am finally making some progress, albeit slow. Budget + expecting our first in November. I can't wait to be a dad, and also not gonna let anyone be a naysayer that "you hobby is over," blah blah blah! She will just learn to get those little hands dirty hanging out with dad
Congrats on the little girl. . .she's going to change your whole world! I still make time to work on my car, but now that time involves early weekend mornings with a cup of coffee instead of late nights with cold beer. I wouldn't change it for the world.
Yeah, I know she is! And trust me - I cannot wait for her to change it! And since I already start my days with a cup of coffee, and knowing full well I could stand to drink less beer, it's all good!! Also, hope the intake works out for ya!
So, had some help on the Photoshop thread. I had already done the wheels, lowering, hoodless with trip 97s and the exhaust cutout, but am not the best with the full paint thing, but wanted to see what it would look like in Red Oxide Primer with white scallops. HOLY SMOKES! Moose made my vision come alive, and have so much more drive to get this thing done!!
Well, progress is progress. Got to cleaning up the Intake a bit. One layer of grime gone...but man is that some work! Makes you realize how porous aluminum really is...will probably end up painting it anyhow. Gonna get the 50 back down from Michigan this weekend so I can start picking away at small things over winter. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Got the Intake painted. Once that was done, git a chance to get out to a cruise night, lots of good HAMB friendly stuff...Larry Grobe Voodoo Kreeper just down from mine. .. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
looks like the intake turned out nice. still on track to start on the rebuild next month? Thanks for the pic's on the Cruise night.
Yes, hoping to! At least start the breakdown and see what the internals look like. From the way the motor runs now it's pretty tight, a slight oil burn, but that'll be easily fixed. Just want to make sure nothing major. Gonna start a rejet on my Rochester Q Jet down to 600 CFM along with a rebuild in the next week or so... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Got the final coats on as well as the clear. Now to rebuild the carb! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thank you! I simply used high heat Dupli-Color aluminum silver and their high heat clear. When I rebuild the carb the plan is to use Eastwood carb renew paint. Sent from my SCH-I545 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Just a little more playing around. Good idea? Bad idea? Would love to eventually get a 4-71 on the motor...
It's cause it's not a 2 door, isn't it!! Just kidding. Slower day at work, and have always loved gassers. We shall see...
Thanks Mitch! I think maybe it does sit a little high, I think if it came down a couple inches from that rendering it'd look better. I think maybe it's the wheel/tire combo that I like... Sent from my SCH-I545 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thank you! Found a set of unilug chrome reverse wheels on Craigslist locally for 200 bucks for all 4. Gonna go take a look early next week to see the condition. I figure for the price, I could re-chome them if needed. If I do go for this look, I would only need thew two, and resell the other two or trade for some Cragars.
While my wife and the ladies were having a baby shower, my pops and I decided to get rockin on the transplant. So, you will need to excuse the OT donor vehicle, but that is where the donor 283 resides (why a late 50s/early 60s 283 was put in this, my cousin has NO idea...) Here is what we started with... Progress... Where we ended...shower was over by then, and we needed to get back from MI to Chicago. We are ready for the cherry picker - manifolds were just rust welded and fighting us, and the picker is at my dad's shop. Hoping to get up there ONE more time before baby girl arrives so we can at least get this thing on a stand for the winter.
Awesome car man. Gotta love the 4 doors. I'm going a similar direction with mine but I'm staying 235/3 speed. Love the red primer and scallops idea. Looking forward to updates.
Thank you! I do like the 235, since they are more stout, but the 216 was just not going to cut it, and since the 283 was available, and price was right, and I am just a V8 guy!! Looking forward to seeing it come together myself!
So, 200 bones later...a killer deal for sure. Not perfect, some pitting around the valve stems, but for the price I couldn't go wrong!! ...and came with the caps as well... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks! No, that cruise night happens in Lombard at a place called Brauerhouse off North Ave. You should come check it out sometime come Spring...or if you still have the Merc out they cruise as long as the weather is nice. Sent from my SCH-I545 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'd say from Orland Park, if you shoot up 83 you could be there in 1/2 hr, and for the turnout and great beer and food selection, it'd be worth your while! Obviously slowing down this time of year, but next year for sure (plus, I love getting the chance to see your car...never gets old when I see it!!)
