  7. I'll play. How about some from a ways back? Here's a few from the 1990 Mid Century Mercury Club show in Wisconsin.

You got to drive yours to work today? Lucky duck! Mine's in a shop still trying to hunt down that dang vibration. :(

  9. Here's a few more random ones from days gone by. I most all these were at local shows here and there in the 80's.

  22. I love that white '60 with the blue fogging. I had not seen that one before. Of course, who wouldn't want Mike Young's '60 in their garage?

Speaking of garages, how about a few pictures from Kurt McKormick's?

Sonny's Bailon-built Merc, the "Blue Mirage" (older Satan's Angels' club member) is pictured here in black (there's a metal post sign in front with number "10")
Anyone got some recent history on this car?

Sonny sold it after a long run of car show wins, not sure when; '60-'65, maybe. It was always shown with the club's cars, one of them Leroy Gulart's '49 Ford Coupe.
Car went to Ohio (?) or somewhere 'snowy', (it materialized one Spring where it had been in a big white mound)
Story went that it was very neglected, someone bought it and chopped it. Then it disappeared again.

According to Sonny: Joe Bailon was working on the elaborate hood scoops, Sonny was dropping by every few days, worked locally for an electrical contractor. One of those times he showed Joe this new trick 'tubing' they were pulling wire through...Sonny bent some up with his portable hickey, and Joe said it would work nicely for grilles and bumpers... Sonny's Merc was first with the EMT trick.
Cool dude, Sonny...still has his plaque & jacket.

Hopefully the plan will come together. Bring the car over into Long Beach in April. Travel with friend from Encinitas to Dewey(3 days) to get to Dewey for the run and then make our way up to Billetproof in Milan MI. Will spend a few days in St Louis with my sons in laws on the way. My son met his wife when he was based in Fort Lauderdale and now both live back here in Brisbane. Then while up in the Detroit area I would like to go to a couple of well known Hudson Museums and also Gilmore Museum as well as do the Ford Museum/Greenfield Village.
Then it will be a long trip back to CA for Santa Maria and then back to Encinitas. The car may stay there then and I will come back in late July to drive up to Salina for the KKOA custom meet and maybe back via Bonneville for Speed Week. PHEW!!! Here's hoping we can put all this together.
