Does anyone know much about "sneaky" Pete Robinson sbc blowers?

A friend of mine is selling a complete sneaky pete clipped blower set up for a sbc and I don't know much, other than what little I have found online.

Why would someone take off the blower after he died?

That would be incredibly hard to prove at any rate unless there was some marking on his own personal case.

I've got no idea what they are worth as I've only seen two other 'PETE ENG CO" cases outside of mine and one is in Garlits' museum on the tinker toy dragster he's got

The guy was really an innovator and genus when it came to being creative engineer.

I've got a nice color photo of the rail he raced around 1961-62 with a closeup of the chain driven blower. I'll post it as soon as I find it. Bob

He made me give him my word of honor that I wouldn't share the pictures, damn. It has the pete tag, magnesium blower and manifold.

  17. One of 3 eh, That's some funny stuff right there. I believe the correct term is pruned. Here's mine

And another: this was my extra Pete's Eng. blower drive that I sold to my buddy Rob to go on his blower for the restoration of the Ohio George Montgomery Hurst's Gasser Passer Prefect and I believe he has since found another.

I crewed for Pete when he was killed. He quit running a SBC in the mid '60's and don't ever remember running a Corvette. He was killed in the SOHC Ford (the one in post 5 ). He was experimenting with ground effects and they loaded the front wheels above weight limit and they failed. I don't think he ever had Mag drives but he and Ohio George did the blower cases together. I ran a pruned blower on my street T bucket for 8 years. Wish I had it back! Recently found 2 NOS drive made from the original molds and intend to prune my stock 671 to make another.

Here's my bone head question, which idler arm was used in the 60's for a hilborn injected hemi with a bowers blower? I have this edelbrock but I think it's for a smaller blower, like 471 or 671. I have it mocked up but to use it I would need to take some material out or I'm guessing spacers to mate to the blower.

I found this forum by accident and was thrilled to see some of the pictures posted. I grew up next to Pete in Atlanta Ga and was probably around 12 years old when he was working on this project. The snout and skirt in this picture was top secret at the time. Not many people were allowed in his shop at this time. The picture is in front of his garage behind his house.
The skirt was made out of aircraft aluminum honey comb material with a 4 " rubber skirt. It was like rectangular box mounted under the frame. I was with him when he took the car to Cummings Ga drags trip to test it. It sucked the car down so well it burned most of the rubber skirt as I remember. He later redesigned it to the wing. If I remember correctly he told me it created a vacuum effect to create better traction. He was a total genius and great engineer and person. He died much too young leaving his wife Sandra and young daughter Kelly. After he was killed I rented his shop with another neighbor and close friend of Pete's, Raymond P. I don't know if Raymond is still out living, but he bought most of Pete's blowers.

Yea, I assure you I saw more than 3 sitting on the shelves after Pete was killed. Raymond P. Put one on a 400 sbc in a gorgeous black bucket T. I had Pete's engine stand and built a 283sbc for a 1950 Ford pickup there at the time. Most of Pete's stuff sold. I had the Tinker Toy
Cowl off the car Pete crashed when it blew a clutch testing tires for Goodyear several years before he was killed. I gave it to Raymond.

  24. I was talking with Ohio George Montgomery at Bowling Green last year and he said he wasn't 100 percent sure but seemed to remember the number for the cases and bearing plate sets cast up were around 200.

I've had this case for 12 years or so. Brand new never machined or assembled. Told them about it at the Pomona museum several years back. They wanted it pretty bad. It's wonderfully preserved. [IMG]

I have one of these too, mounted on a 460 manifold, curious what it’s worth myself...
