WOW! From the tire distortion and attitude, it's obvious that those folks don't have a problem with pushing the limits in "old cars". How it should be, use them and enjoy them.;)

Obviously the one in the advertisement is a Saxon. The one in the current photograph is a lengthened vehicle with the owner struggling with sanctioning "bodies" as to what class it belongs in.More than likely,as a competition car,it has lost some of it's original clothing. Therefore, the discrepancies in visual similarities.

    Fred,
Quite right! There are some other versions, not so cute as small coupe.
    Small coupes are the law!

Stromer is correct; though I don't have enough German to know if it shouldn't be Strömer. It means "streamliner" and comes from strömen, to stream, and Strömung, stream or current. The connection is easy to my ears because the equivalent Afrikaans word is stroom. Thus the tendency in Afrikaans would be to translate "streamliner" as stromer, with neither the initial capital nor the umlaut.

    Here is the Jawa, unchained:

Both Framo and Jawa are part of a swarm of engineering traditions and commercial connections with DKW at its epicentre.

    Hello Fred,
I do not think that you were wrong at all:
FRAMO-WERKE was a company (G.m.b.H. - founded by great Danish engineer Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen, the founder of DKW, in 1923.), but STORMER (probably connected to streamliner, as Ned wrote) and PICCOLO (mostly four-wheeler, with engine at rear or later at front) - was two of many models made by that company...
But, probably not very important for us today?
    Ciao, Zoran

    Hello there,

As I said, "Small Coupes are the Law" - as this cute red JAWA! Nothing strange, a lot of small sport cars from Central Europe was similar technically (often with independent front suspension, air-cooled engines, mostly two-stroke, back-bone chassis...), but esthetically too: small coupes, or aerodynamic speedsters... Probably, because of low power, cheap build, bad and twisting mountain roads – and good drivers with desire for speed at low cost...

The first bunch of photos: JAWA (coupes and specials)...

    Ciao, Zoran
P.S.: Sorry, but neither of models are close to cyclecars, most belonged to "baby cars" and some for middle-class of European automoibles from between World Wars...

... a little more: CZ made AERO (coupes and one not-so-cute spider special)!

Sure, why not? I think the thread kinda is for small quirky cars.3 &4 wheeled. After the war things changed and those folks making small cars made them a little larger and more comfortable.Eventually ,we would run out of "legal" cyclecars to talk about.I think most of us are just looking for ideas and exposure until we get the thought that goes like this ... "you know,I CAN do THAT" . Besides all these little footnotes of history are great!

    Hello,
Small and cute AERO 500 was my beloved micro-veteran auto, from my early youth (middle of sixties). Then I saw it on Belgrade’s Fair, at some kind of show and race for veterans. It was bright yellow and driven furiously by his owner and his friend. They over-turned it in front of me and were thrown-away on asphalt (no injuries)... After that, we consider it as true small sports-auto! It was the main actor in one theater show! Later it is painted blue and now has its place in Belgrade Automobile Museum. It is established by the same guy that had mentioned accident - my friend Braca Petkovic. It was the first in his collection. Braca now has a few dozens of old-timers in Museum and double number of that in hangar near Belgrade, waiting on reconstruction.

Some years ago, I saw that car in Museum – and, it is really cute, but really small (for me).

    Ciao, Zoran

    Hello there,

Anybody know anything about this strange chassis?
It seems to me as combination of a few vehicles: central-tube chassis with independent rear suspension - from something as front-engine, rear-wheel drive DKW and similar autos, front suspension in a style of GN, engine older than chassis and wheels (big V-twin a'la motorcycle or cycle-car), wheels "modern" metal-disk type...

    Ciao, Zoran
