Try www.yariniracing.com (already posted) As of a few years ago he was still in Tucker. Haven't been aware of any recent racing though.

"Before he began a two-decade love affair with Pro Stock that started in the early 1970s and lasted well into the late 1980s, Georgia's Joe Yarini was making a name for himself with this 354-powered Willys coupe named Pronto, in which he competed in the BB/Gas Supercharged ranks. He also ran a Vega in the B/A class in Comp before moving to Pro Stock and, in the 1990s and beyond, to Pro Mod, first with a Trans Am and then a '37 Chevrolet."

Can barely see the rear (and your new fangled weight bar/bumper) in this one:

SO COOL, I WONDER WHERE THE WILLYS IS?

  6. Nice info on PRONTO! Thanks! We are discussing going to Paradise on Saturday. The plan is to put a push bar on Tyler's digger tonight, then test it on that big uphill at the track

Got some progress on the front axle.

Fill this in and mount the spring hangers

This is the 1933 Plymouth axle. It needs the king pins opened up to fit the Ford 42-48 King Pins. Then it needs some chrome.

  7. Was talking to Quain at Ware Shoals about these things. He would like them to be hidden. I was going to make the plates wider - but man they need to be massive

Not sure if I'll change these brackets yet

What does he want hidden? The rod ends or the safety hoop?

I had one of those dodge axles done up before. What I did was take one of the new roller king pin set ups and just had the center area of the king pin turned down to fit the ID of the axle. Lot less work than trying to ream the axle.

  12. I think the safety loop. If it doesn't look '65 then hide it. The rod end is pretty much hidden. Once the rest of the holes are done, the upper ones will hit the cross-member with that safety hoop so it might need fixed anyway.

  13. That's a good idea there.

I must have been distracted by that great looking ass crack.

Guy's I saw this thing last Sunday and it is CLEAN. The pics do not do it justice.

  17. Russ (Cabbage) found a 37 Dodge 3 miles from my house that is even cleaner! It thought he was going to buy it - it is for sale.

  18. Are you still talking about your ass crack?

  19. A few updates. I found out that the rear housing is not quite SEG rules. Supposed to be a production housing. At first I was like "What the hell? It's round on the back o_O" After looking at it everyday it was bugging me. So my buddy Russ always seems to have stuff - spares and random stuff. Talked him out of this :

Then went to town - again - :)

Since I had a few hours in the measuring already on the other rear, I needed a way to duplicate all the dimensions. Found this and it works like a champ.

  20. The next hurdle was the tubes I got were 3" and this housing is 3.5" . Not too tough to solve, cut 4 slots instead of 2 like on the last housing and smacked them into size.

    Added inside straps:

  23. Then meant to include this earlier - the only thing holding 9" axles in is this little band. I think it was Tudor who got me started doing this :

So what was wrong with the first housing?

uumm, uuhhh.., hate to bring this up now, but uh..,57 Ford housings (the first year for them, & uhh..,most era correct) are just like the first housing you were building. Gene Cromer has one just like it under his car..,that, uh.., well that he built in 1963.., ;) course you know that while I feel bad for you, (and I truly do) I'm LMAO, as I'm typing this!!!

  26. I think the taper on the first housing was the issue. Not the back. I figured it was good to go with the round back. Quain actually told me to take down the pics and don't bring it up again and he wouldn't say anything. But if the next guy comes along with a Currie 9+ housing and it becomes an issue - I wasn't that far into it to back it out.

And yes laugh your ass off because I am going to this effort so you can see a purdy ass when I go by at Meltdown
