Can you get a title in Michigan with just a bill of sale if it has the serial # ?also is there a site where you can check serial #s to see if it may be being used for another car or stolen?

  2. Your title bureau in Michigan could answer your questions. Sounds like you're thinking the car is not clean.

No I don't think its not clean but before I buy the body and frame just want to make sure.

  4. If you have a "Bill of Sale" and enough body/frame parts with the matching I.D. your good to go as soon as you have an officer verify that the numbers match.

You need an appraisal from a dealer. Good luck on that one as the few I spoke with could care less. They will accept KBB or NADA value guides, but good luck with that too. They only list prices for completed cars and their high, mid and low values unless you can access an actual NADA book that goes back past 48. I actually had one of those wide bottom bitches yell at me over a 38 Ford title app when I had an official auction bill of sale. Perhaps you'll do better. There's a yellow 1/2 sheet you can get from the SoS which begins the bullshit sanctimony from your side of the counter. If I sound bitter about it you don't know the 1/2 of it. On one occasion I wanted to drag the manager of the local SoS by the throat and pull him over the counter, telling me I'm not privy to the vehicle code and nobody knows it in there. Lansing got a call instead of his wrinkled shirt, I got a number to give the counter worker, then my shit got done fast and professional as he peeked out of his office on the re-visit. Good luck to you on this, and anything worth more than $2500 requires a bond.

Get a police officer friend to check NCIC or go to NICB on Goggle.

Michigan is pretty easy. Start at the DMV. I got one got one for a 1917 Ford.
