Thanks guys. I like it. The best part is that the whole system is 2 1/2" and will have plenty of room. Right out to the back of my bed

  2. Blue One,
How 'bout a quick tutorial on how you did your thru-the-frame exhaust?
    Did you sleeve the opening?

    Thanks,
    Gary

Hey Gary, slip on over to my build thread, it's all there. I cut 2 - 45° angled pieces of 4" pipe cut 2" thick on a big band saw. Then traced the ellipse on poster board for a cut-out pattern.
cut holes, sleeve and weld. :)

Thanks, not bad for all by myself in a backyard garage :D

It's called, "Passion". Passion, makes you drive 500 miles because someone said they thought they saw something you might need. Passion, has you getting up at 5am on a Saturday, to hit the swap meet. Passion, has you sitting alone in your garage, at 3am, looking at your car and wondering, "Will this work?", and trying it.... until you make it work.

  7. Thanks! This may be the solution for how I can reconsile a 354 Hemi, starter, steering linkage, and exhaust into the same space.

No problem, I call building a car like mine learning how to stuff 10 pounds into a 5 pound sack :D

Thanks Larry. I really enjoy making stuff with my daughter. I am trying to pass down that depression era ethic of "build it, dont buy it". She LOVES making stuff with her dad. Hes about 7' tall, pretty imposing when hes lit up...

Damn impressive George! And not just the goblin, but the ethics of the "depression era" type upbringing. My grandfather effected much of that on me, and that is partially why I'm such a nut bag about doing it myself instead of pulling out the credit card.

Contrary to popular belief, I haven't driven the 'Bucket off the edge of the earth! I am alive and well, just been busy as hell this last week. I took today "off", but have been going 200mph trying to catch up on all the small stuff I have dropped the ball on this last week or two. I'll sit and write up some adventures tonight.

And kids LOVE it. This summer, we pulled out the 2x8 stringers from an old rotten deck I tore out, and some shitty old 2x4s, cut out the rotten bits, added some wood putty, a can of red paint and a handful of wood-screws to the mix, and built a really first-rate picnic table, which now resides on our deck. When we finished it, she was so proud she shouted at the neighbours over the fence "Look at the picnic table pappa and I built!" It really gives them a huge sense of accomplishment even if you do most of the work. The process of pulling out a bunch of old discarded stuff, and ending up with a nice finished product means SO MUCH more to them than just going to Home Depot and putting it on the credit card, and really is a wonderful bonding experience...

I know this is not traditional but I kinda like it and if it keeps my radiator from running out of fluid and overheating the engine (it happened a few weeks ago) than it's worth it. I've had the electric fan on it ever since I burned up my first SBF. I could have tried to hide it or paint it black but I just decided to put it on and say here it is so what.

  19. Heck, I'm either going blind or that fan just doesn't stand out at all. I think that ones eyes are naturally drawn to all the other fine details on your car Gary that something like the fan just doesn't matter. Eg. the covering on the wires going to the gennie matches the cover on the brake hoses. The chrome or stainless overflow bottle that works well with the stainless grille surround extra piece.

What happened to the Bucket of Ugly? Been a little while since it's made an appearance..

  21. I do not know if I posted these yet. My dad shot these in 64 when Jim Street owned the Kookie Car. It was being displayed at a Dealership in Sioux City Iowa. Rik Hoving used them in his Jack Stewart book. I consider this the turning point of T buckets. The car got dualies in the rear, twin blowers and trucker stacks not long after this. Then things morphed into the ugly.

I place the blame for this descent into ugly squarely at the feet of the ISCA and their show rules...and the greed of some rodders for fame, fortune and really BIG trophies. Yeah, things went pretty nuts when the number of modifications trumped overall taste when it came to show cars and trophies. Norm's car was but one of the many victims of this destructive trend. Only now, thank God, are rodders trending away from the excesses of the past and back towards tasteful design and first-class workmanship. Oddly enough it is a newfound appreciation of the traditional that is fueling this return to sanity.

Gang, sorry, I am in a crunch for Good Guys Scottsdale on wiring for a '55 T-bird. Our season just started, and there is at least 6 shows every damn week right now too, 'cause everybody has been cooped up all summer, and was at the breaking point for going insane.

I built a new seat base the other day, Landseanadair found a gallon of orange paint at an estate sale for me, and I somehow managed to knock the right front tire off the wheel the other day and had it repaired at a llantera. (there was no English option!) Right now it's going between 50 and 100 miles a day just getting to where I'm working on this bird and other customer stuff.

Right now, I just walked in from watching fellow H.A.M.B.er Daniel Shircliff's band with Jerry, Nick Flores (and lady Flores), and Bodi, and most of the Midnighters from here in town, all fellow H.A.M.B.ers... And I'll wake up and do it again at 5:00 am.... Soon gang, soon.

Ya know, another H.A.M.B.er and I have talked at length about doing a Traditional style show here in town that could possible eventually rival Austin. The problem isn't with having venues with enough space, it's having a venue here with the right "vibe". Phoenix is so damned good at tearing down and disposing of our history, that most here think the town is only 70-80 years old instead of 150.

Unfortunately, that has wiped out most of what would feel "right". Can't go wrong though with hanging out here for a bit in the winter... It is a truly beautiful place to be, with sooooooo much car stuff and enthusiasm your brain would explode!
