I don't think there is a replacement for early Stewart Warner gauges.....except for original Ford gauges. I filled my 5w full of smooth bezels...
I've been slowly gathering for a dash full of 2 3/8" rear mounts for the next 32. Just need a few more.
Thank you for that gauge fix...but I feel I may be needing more...I can't help it! I leave you with Ricky Nelson's dash..
This would be the sixth time I've come back to just look at the pictures. One of my favorite posts yet. Awesome.
Always liked the early 30's MoPar inserts...here's a '34 Dodge I picked up a few months back. Would look great in the right car!
Couple more favorites from our pals at the AHRF; Circa 1950 Dick Megugorac's A - late 1940's; Somebody needs to make a hot rod dash out of hammered aluminum! Love this;
Interesting, depressions are deep and ridges between are straight. Either a hell of a lot of hammering or is it cast?
I bet it's this stuff; http://www.amazon.com/Rigidized-Pat...UTF8&qid=1415454625&sr=1-3&keywords=rigidized
. Great thread... I like simple so here is my dash in the Chemical City Coupe And the dash of my truck which is currently blown apart for a color change... Next week I'm going to be filling the huge hole covered by the engined turned plate. That'll definitely clean it up a bunch. .
The original: Ours: 1942 Buick Special Guages. I had a tough time finding a decent set that had a 120mph speedo. They still need a lot of work to look good and actually work.
Love the wheel. I snagged a square bird wheel for my '39, also have a '57 Ford wheel in my stash. Ford had some of the best steering wheels in the fifties. Steering wheel choice is just as critical as the gauges behind it. I had to skip a few steaks to cover the price of the water temp gauge for my '39.
They're all smooth bezel/curve glass Stewart Warners - '40s up to end of the '50s according to Dave Mann.
The tach & speedo look to be bigger than what is available today........what size are those? I really like that look.
