What is the best car you've ever owned? (No off HAMB topic cars, please.)

Why - What made it, "The Best?"

Pictures, please! (If you have them.)

    Back in the 70's I had a '55 Chevy big window P.U.
It had a 235 with a three on the tree and overdrive. Had it for 12 years and drove it everywhere. Wish I'd never sold it.

None of my hamb friendly cars were a**** the best I ever owned. They are old cars. Old cars act like old cars and need a lot of attention.

But several of them I have loved more than the best cars. My 32 coupe comes to mind, along with a 59 Corvette I had and a good running 63 Galaxie I wish I had kept.

Unfortunately, the only two cars I've owned that were within the HAMB years weren't really worth mentioning. I had a 1962 Tempest and part of a Model T ( frame and axles).

Here's a picture of a Tempest that I pulled off of Google. Mine was this color but didn't look this good. It spent most of it's time parked in the driveway, waiting to be repaired. Everyting on it was worn out, brittle with age, or rusted. So that's why I didn't, "go first." It's funny but I still miss that car sometimes. But when I remember how hard it was to find parts for and how much work it needed, I think I made the right decision to sell it.

Possibly not the best car I ever owned but my Deuce sedan is way up there on the list and is the one that I sold almost 18 years ago and was able to buy back a couple of years ago after my friend Roger p***ed away.

It's the black one that Merlin shot yesterday in route to Mason's open house. HRP 1053265_10152529652722153_4629225454650599169_o.jpg

55 Chevy Bel Air -bought it in 77 and drove as main car for a few years-265 PP with stick and OD-great runner with no issues ever. Sold it and got another 55 BelAir (in our album)--wife drove it for 8 years and it was our main car-never a problem and still have it--will be the last one to go.

H.A.M.B. friendly would be a '57 Chevy I built in the mid '60s. 301 with Rochester fuel injection and Muncie speed. Firefrost silver paint and black leather interior. It ran 11.99 ET and 116.71 MPH.
Non H.A.M.B. has to be my 2014 Chevy High Country pick up. Ever option from the factory and I love the heated and A/C leather seats.

I'd say this was my favorite, I wanted an original 4 door with all the accessories, in my mind I even pictured the car with green faded paint, then I saw this one at a swap meet with a 350 under the hood and had to have it.

For me, this '39 Ford coupe was the best, hands down:

    39cpe_wedding_900.jpg
So you're asking "Why was this one the best?", well.......
Yep, it was our wedding day. The car was sold years ago and after having put up with me for almost 34 years my wife p***ed away over 4 years ago so maybe the reasons are obvious.
I do know who has the car now and he's a great caretaker. I'd love to have it back but the present owner has no plans to sell and I don't blame him.
Here's what it looks like today, with the exception of the wheels it looks pretty much the same as it did when I sold it.

As I read the responses to this thread, I'm reminded that it's really not the cars themselves but it's the memories and friends we make with them. An occasional thread like this helps us realize that.
    Carry on!

11092014.jpg Maybe not my best (but surely fun) but definitely my first. '53 Mainline, bought it when I was 15 yrs old for $35. Had a rebuilt Flathead V-8 from Sears, '54 DeSoto Grille, '56 Olds tailights, '56 Ford wheelcovers, Dechromed hood and deck. Had a lot of good times in this car........Don.

probably the '55 in my avatar. I grew up in it from about ages 8-16. I found it and bought it back when I was 36, about 16 years ago. That's my 15 yr. old son in the pic.

My '52 Lincoln Cosmopolitan : We bought it in '73 & in the next 20 yrs we put on somewhere between 350K to 400K miles : its my next project to get it back on the road where it belongs, as it was one of the most trouble-free & fun cars I've ever owned, new ones included!

it's a tough choice; one of my several roundbody Falcons, the '63 Chrysler 300, '63 Galaxie Sportsroof, Dad's '59 Galaxie, or my first real "old" car, the '60 Starliner i drove when i was in the Navy.... they're old, cantankerous, and i wish to hell i still had every one of them. right now i'm rebuilding a '56 Fairlane that better turn out to be my "best car" YET......
