Model A has gas tank in the cowl. Model T was under the front seat. They had to change it because they could not fill the gas tank from inside the car when they made a closed body. Besides, they wanted to lower the seat which would not leave room. But old Henry was too cheap to pay for a fuel pump so it had to go where gravity dictated.

The tank was under the cowl not part of it like a Model A. That's what the door in the cowl top was for, to access the filler neck.

Nice find that is a whole lot nicer than the front half of a 26/7 Touring I have out in back lot.

Sort of correct.........but this is a 1926-27 T Touring car body with the tank in the cowl. You opened the cowl vent door unscrewed the gas cap and filled the tank. Only the TT trucks had the under seat tank in 26-27. Notice the aluminum rings around the side curtain holes in the doors, this was a 1926 feature. Later on in production a raised ring was pressed in the door skin. Four less parts to install and saved Henry a few cents on every open car body. Bob

Not to throw cold water on a great find, but have you determined who the property owner is that this T is sitting on? If you just take it off someones property without finding out who owns it that's pretty much theft ain't it?

I brought mine home in the 6 foot bed of my '55 F100. Jerks were coming into my lane to get a look at it (and the cool pickup haulin' it)
Two guys can lift it, four are better... Yes on the Model A frame, if you don't have Deuce rails...or '28-'31 Chevy...
