Art & Inspiration In thy woods

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ottoparts, Nov 14, 2014.

  1. This ol gal is sitting in the woods by a friends house. There is also a 60's Impala wagon as well. However I find this Pontiac much more interesting. The drive train is even still there.

The vent on the rear quarter windows is way cool!
'57 Pontiac trivia: All '57 Pontiac station wagons were called Safari's, not just the Super Chief Custom Safari (Nomad-like) wagons.

  10. Agreed. Boredom, and money are a well spent miracle for some. I would of course, love to see it happen. Sure don't see many of those running around.

Gonna try to save it? If the frames not shot and it's free you could do something, Lotta work and a Lotta $ on chrome. Throw some custom touches in where the parts are too gone to use. It would be a great car. The broken curved rear glass will be tough to find. Not sure if longer coupes doors would fit, if so a 2 door delivery without the rear windows would mess with people's head.

  12. Was back out there today.
Not sure about saving the Pontiac. There is no floorboards inside and I couldn't tell the condition of the frame.
However, the same person owns this Buick. He figured it was best to use it as a fence.
There is also a 60's Dodge Sweptline 4x4
I now know how to get a hold of the owner of these cars. I probably wait until after winter.

I guess at some point he just felt they were both worthless. What a shame.

More trivia: The rear quarter vent windows were only on the 9 passenger Chieftain wagon, none of the 6 passenger wagons got vents.

Not a Transcontinental. As NMCarNut already mentioned, only the 9-passenger Chieftains had the quarter window vents.

Here's a Transcontinental. The side trim is completely different.

Hey kidcampbell71 - I'm a lot closer! Ha, The Queen would shoot me if I dragged anything else home. We're both dreaming because the OP has dibs...

The buick is much more interesting. It's sunk pretty deep, frame and floors are probably toast. Frame swap and flat floors? Might as well channel it. Lotta work, keep us updated.
