Its been some time since I updated my build thread on here, with more progress being made and having lost most of my pictures from the previous thread I thought I'd start over and highlight some aspects of my build. Many of you have probably seen the cab that I started with almost two years ago, it was a extremely rough and rusted 1932 ford truck cab that I bought in Owasso Oklahoma just north of Tulsa. The cabs metal work is about 90% finished now but I'm still in need of a drivers side door.
Bare with me I'm still learning how to post pictures. I started with a JW frame I then added a x member and a model A rear cross member I also built some drilled I beam styled brackets for the rear spring.
I'm using a 33-36 dropped Axel with square back spindles and Bob Wilson backing plates, Axel was dropped by Joe Casto.
I still can't believe how far you've come with that roached out cab... I walked away from it because it would have cost me a small fortune in metal work to have it fixed...good on you for saving it.
Thanks I'll be honest when I looked at the cab I was just going to buy it for yard art but the more I looked at it the more I wanted to build it so for 250$ I thought I'd take a chance, not to mention it has been a great learning experience.
Here's some shots of the I beam brackets I built for the rear housing, by the way there's close to 4 ft of welding in one of the spring brackets.
Yeah, yeah, yeah......build is greatness.....but I think I like your garage and floor. Guess one starts with the palette, before the strokes fling the paint. All is right in your world. Nice start man. It's looking good !!
Looks good, nice job on the spring mounts along with everything else. Good to see it back up on the board. Jim Ford
I for one am glad to see this project is still coming together. The work is first class, love the bracket work. HRP
Thanks guys and sorry for the picture quality I'm in the process of fixing it right now more updates coming soon.
Here are a few tig welds on the frame I'm not a professional welder by any means and I'm still learning everyday. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
For the steering on the car I went with a 53-56 ford box with the wedge built in that way the frame is still 100% boxed. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
. When it's all said and done I'll add stainless steel fasteners to hold the box in place. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
And of course the pitman arm will be heated and bent to clear the wishbone in the picture the arm needs to come out a little more but it's close. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Then I built a dropped steering hoop for the front and added holes for speed. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
