The 58 was ignored for so many years and being a 1 year style, there aren't a lot of them around anymore. I would really like to see several pics of 58 Chevies of any and all models and styles, I am currently working on a 58 Biscayne 2 door that I think I have most of it planned out, but I would love to see some ways that others have chosen to do them, my plans aren't set in stone and may get modified if I see something that piques my fancy. For the most part it will be fairly stock appearing with an updated drive train (350 and a 700R4) and some safety upgrades such as disc brakes, it will be a driver that hopefully will look nice enough to turn a couple of heads but not show quality.

Some Impalas (maybe all) came with a vent on the rear roof. Not functional but I think it looked pretty cool. I don't think I ever saw one on a Biscayne.

Many people figured that they were too big & bulky compared to the 57's and therefore weren't as popular either. Wish I'd got one when nobody wanted em.

The numbers weren't far enough apart for it to explain the numbers still around, more of an early popularity wasn't there to make people seek them out and save them, I believe. The 58 was treated like the "red headed stepchild"
And how do they compete with the tri-five popularity that began as the cars were not that old.

  20. I've been a huge fan of 58 Impalas, ever since I built a model of one, as a teenager. Kinda even spilled over into liking four doors to, but the Impala just rules.
Mox Millers would have to be the most bitchin one ever, IMHO.
He still owns it too, brought it brand new, and around 45 years later, its still as beautiful as it was back then.
The supercharged 348 was put in, in 1962, and has never been fired. He didn't want to mess up the chrome.
If you don't know this show car, search it here, or get hold of TRJ number 47.
Maybe someone can post a pic.

Did body and paint on this mild custom for my good buddy, Lefty, about 25+ years ago. Told him to scrap the car when he brought it to the shop (it was so badly rusted, and repaired), but he persisted, and here it is today.
    He owned it since 63 or 4, running a tri-power 348 and 3 speed.

    Here's a pic of my first 58 back around 63, was a 348 tri power 4spd, mild de-chrome.

Thanks guys, lot of nice looking Impalas, for sure. Hope to see a few of the other models, too.
When I go to car shows I always hope to see at least one 58, sometimes there aren't any and one time I was really surprised to see 3 at one show, now that was unusual. Keep them coming, please.

Always liked the looks of the 58 Chevy. I had a Belair 2dr several years ago. Aztec Bronze, 283, powerglide. Great cruiser. Used it mostly as a daily driver for a few years. I think this one ended up near Long Island NY.
My most recent was a Biscayne 2dr. Turned this one into a mild 60's custom. Added some Belair roof trim, a 54 Chevy Grille, 50 Pontiac taillights, 60's Pontiac buckets and console and modified my rear seat to add the Impala speaker cover. Ran a 350/350 drive train and 5 spoke wheels. Sold this one to a guy in Rome NY.

Nice looking Biscayne, I'm planning a 2 tone paint job,red and white, with a different way of separation.
