I noticed that Mitch has a tach light and he's using a vintage tach, how the heck is that wired to go on at designated rpm?

  4. Most likely a RPM Activated Switch like MSD 8950.

Reread the rules...they just have to be hidden. Most are running an MSD.

    Drumyn-

I have had the best luck using the plastikote white heat paint. Just make sure the headers are clean with solvent to remove all oils and then run them on the motor ASAP to cure them.

That's good to know Jeff....I've been looking for white hi-temp powder coat locally for a while, and they only seem to want to do silver or black,so I'll probably just take a crack at them myself....

  12. Will Scott's car be re-named the 'Lakeshore Stinker' when it is cooking off the powder coated headers??? Talk about motivation to stay out in front!

Some idiots (like me) take it way too serious, and run points, no electronics. I figure just because I'm allowed to use modern stuff, doesn't mean I have to use modern stuff.

Surprisingly, the old technology still works as well as it did 50 years ago.

That's pretty much what I was trying to avoid AJ.....:) lol

I've been looking for somebody to do them in white ceramic, but the nearest place,if I recall correctly was closer to you,Kip,and a bunch of the MDA guys than it was to me....I'm gonna have a closer look at Toronto.7 and a half million people.....One of them should have the stuff to do my headers....lol!

Mine have lasted pretty good the last time I did them. I sandblasted them down to bare metal then baked them at about 400° for 30 minutes to burn off all oils and such. I pulled them out of the oven and let them cool by hanging and not touching them to ambient temp then sprayed them using about a full can or more each. Then once they dried slightly, I read the VHT paint can and it says to heat cycle them to like 200° and cool down, then 400° etc... follow the directions exactly as printed on the can using an oven and it is pretty darned good. My biggest problem is spilling shit on them and staining but there is no cracking, peeling, or flaking at all if you do it the way they say.

I didn't do the prep right on mine, so I'm not surprised they are flaking etc. Next time, I'll do it right, and they should last quite a bit longer

  20. My neighbor is out of town and we are watching the cat. Might need to use the oven too :)

  24. I scored a cool set of valve covers at a swap meet in August that had lots of holes for lots of breathers. One set of holes required breathers that I could not locate. Today I welded up those extra holes in these covers, without starting them on fire:p

Extra holes welded up on both covers:

And sanded off nice and smooth:
