These and Chrysler Airflows were deemed too radical at the time.

The Grahms make a great custom. I have seen this one here in the Northwest a few times. I think it was made from a four door sedan.

It was the same guy..........Amos Northup..... a fairly prominent designer of the period... he did the Willys you pictured and the intial designs of the Sharknose Graham. However he died in an accident before it was finished and the final details were done by Graham employees.

That brought back some memories. I was looking at three cars many years ago, a '38 Terraplane 2 door sedan, a Graham, and a '40 DeSoto Coupe. I bought the DeSoto, but I like all three.

  22. Yeah, they're fugly all right, don't look a bit like a Ford. They were a cutting edge modern car in 38, too new for the public. Here is an interesting read about the Graham Bros and companies.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham-Paige

IMO the Graham is beautiful Futuristic Art Deco form with a great vision,
but the Willys is ugly, because it was left in-between the conventional and futuristic styles. Either the designer could not made up his mind or the management did not approve the original vision...? - fail.
