So i was thinking maybe i should start a build thread here so here it goes :)
Got myself a little project a while ago, a -55 Buick, dont really know why cuz i never looked at these models before but i stumbled on an ad and it was located pretty local so from there it was :)
The plan from the beginning was just to make it roadworthy again, but over time i really started to enjoy the car and i was raising the bar a little higher and thought why not build something little more than just a regular -55 that no one notices.. So here comes a bunch of pictures of the build, still tons of work left on the "todo" list but hopefully it will be on the road next summer. / Josef

First off some pictures how it sat when i found it and when it arrived in my garage

It was pretty rough so there were plenty of late nights and beers to keep up my mood :)

Please tell me you're going to reuse the snow leopard seat covers! They're so wrong they're right.

Nice work so far, looking forward to seeing more.

Now to some of the chassieworks, the frame is boxed and i did a small c-notch in the rear so i can lay frame, its hard to see but i added some reinforcement to the c-notch which isnt in the first picture but you can see it in the picture before paint, the exhaust goes inside the frame to make clearance

Now to the marriage, everything went fine besides i have to modify the bottom of the trunk for the exhaust and the floor to make clearance of the drive shaft

45.JPG 46.JPG 47.JPG 48.JPG Since it came without the driveline and i dont have the budget right now i decided to install a chevy 350/700, i will keep the original rear axle but gonna convert it from closed to open driveshaft, the factory wiring harness and box went in the trash and i installed a box from megasquirt instead.
Hopefully i can afford another engine that i dont have to be ashamed over everytime i have to pop the hood in the future :)

I had some kandy layin around for my Ford so i decided to throw it on the Buick instead, i layed some gold base and put "diablo red" over it, i also got a new complete wiring harness from "Ron Francis", actually it was made to fit tri-five Chevys but it worked well with the Buick also :)

Removed the doorhandles and cleaned up the trunk, starting to look like a car again:) also did a small surprise for future archeologists behind the fuel lid before i welded it shut :)

Well, the first RULE of kustom cars is never open your hood cuz it disrupts the lines...sooooo, IF you don't open the hood, no one will know you've got an SBC in there... just let them assume...!!!

Your '55 is looking good. Earlier this month I bought a '56 Special. It had a frame-on resto in 1996-97. I'm getting the roof painted black next week. Keep up the good work....
