Our 53 150 , getting a new lease on life, been with us 5 generations. Never thought I'd build a more door! 235 , 3 ones, Fentons, Saginaw 4 speed with R10 warner overdrive conversion, 68 nova rear with 3.55 posi. Mustang 2 front suspension, ce rear spring kit ,lowering car 3-4 inches, next up Walton swinging pedals. All done ourselves first thread I've started. Here's a few pics! image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Lots of cool stuff-how about some of the CAR? From the sneak previews it looks real nice( and I love the idea that you've resurrected the Mighty Six again).

Thanks! With only 15 pics allowed per thread I was being a little conservative. Not the best pic but I'll try to post some from the late 50's early 60's soon too. image.jpg image.jpg

The 235 "Babbitt" in great shape freshened up for 3 rd time in 1970, drove very little then parked. I pulled it all apart , steam'd it clean, checked clearances, new graphite rope seal, re gasketed her , detailed outside and cleared the way for open driveline. It was kinda like where we come from as an engine for me to shim the rods. Makes me appreciate full pressure oiling. But it's lived there 62 years so might as well keep it alive!

  5. Your attention to detail is very good. Nice work. I like detail !

Thanks! I believe it costs just as much to do it neat as it does sloppy. But whatever makes one happy is ok. Scrubbing & painting smalls to me is one of the cheaper elements of the old car hobby , plus it isn't nasty to work on in the future!

The Devil is in the details! I read an article in an old hot rod mag. awhile ago that refered to "paint detailing"- painting different say suspension parts different colors( even flat black and gloss black).Way cheaper than chrome and the contrast in color highlights different areas in a way just about anyone can utilize.I even like to use different nuts and bolts -painted, stainless, cadmium plate grade 8's- to accent things. Keep up the good work, and have fun( main objective). And post more pictures!Maybe it'll slip by the HAMB Posting Police, they'll be so mesmerized.

I love your "A" my close neighbors & 3 sons are die hard pre war & 2 boys have coupe "A" s and one a 32 roadster pieced together from all Henry steel. I've rode with them as teenagers & love them. I agree totally with your plating & contrast comment , I planned on zincing some of the smalls but I could use some input though on picking a color for the firewall and inner fenders , air vents. It'll have wide whites, steelie rims , 50s period look. I was considering a white with metallic ? Or a pastel color that'd mix with the tan interior / dark green exterior . Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks guys!

Love it! I enjoy seeing 4 doors gettin some attention, I also enjoy seeing family cars being revived.
I like the green,I would leave it on the firewall and make the fenderwells and vents black.
Some chrome reverse or something like a sumbrero cap and/or some skirts might be nice too.

Appreciate the firewall feedback , plan is to keep it green & add a HAMB plaque someday with possibly some gold painted pinstripes if I just can't stand it . Going with steelies & wide whites with possibly a bullet center it's a lowly 150 so plain jane fits the bill. Already got the skirts painted , and I'm about to mask it off and put a coat of black semi on the underside to cover some minor paint overspray . I'll paint the engine cradle a contrasting color that'll go well with the compartment & keep a pressing on . Seems like everything I do to it I take on & off 3-4 times before I paint it & stick it back in place. Really appreciate the input !

Thanks! The old tranny is a sag 4 speed I grafted a warner o/d onto per dad's request he's always had some of those old things in his pickups n I had one in my old 66 pickup they're a hoot to drive. Now he's got the 4 in the floor he's always wanted & the fun of o/d & a kick in the pants passing gear!

Light tan for the firewall, black for the fenderwells would contrast nicely with the green.

Absolutely, match it to the interior & trunk and it will look great and carry on the theme.

image.jpg Finally got enough time to fab up engine mounts for mustang II. Still got some plasma trimming to do , I'm CE's Gunnie pig on how a 235 can fit their crossmember. All I can say is GREAT! image.jpg Made this simple but safe welded up jackstands to front radiator support center 2 bolts support & it's adjustable. Super squared up & all is bubble level & dead on centered up.

image.jpg image.jpg Still in the "roughed in" stages but starting to feel I'm getting some things accomplished. Got some whittling to do on the block mounts.

Fun watch, really nice,, only I think you MIGHT have U-Bolt plates, (shock mounts,
upside down and on wrong sides..

Appreciate the eye on smalls! I've had them on the other way "test fitting" the shocks for centered travel & angles but they hung down way too low & the angles didn't seem right the other way at all. The shock compression & rebound sat better centered at ride height this way. The opposite flip extended the shocks out too far. Sincerely thanks soo much & keep an eye on me! I'm easy going & take good advice to heart ! Update , I just got to wondering what if & all other installs using CE kit are as car sits now , extra clearance with their design for those who want to ride lower. Their products are Awesome
