I guess I should have said a little about my convertible. I bought the car in eastern Pennsylvania in 1997. It now has front sub from a 76 Cutlass, and rear end from the same car. It has a 455 from a 73 98, and 400 TH from the same car. The rear end was a 2:56 ratio, and made the car a real pooch, so two years ago I pur a 3:08 ring and pinion in it. That woke toe old girl up. The car is a dream to drive.

Car is beautiful. I am sure it rides better than any new car on the market, bar none. The long wheelbase really makes these cars great cruisers. Very nice.

    Thanks Eric,
Looks like I've got one coming in my direction. Is yours a '49-'50? The '51 - '54 is larger then the early ones. GREAT to hear from you.

Baron, thanks for the compliment. You are right, no new car rides as good as the 48. It is big and heavy, and the long wheelbase makes it ride like a dream. I don't know if I would ever do a convertible again, they are a lot of extra work, but this one sure turned out nice

47 Model 66 convertible, 68 455 .030 over, 10:1 pistons, comp cams XE268H, balanced, C heads ported, heat crossover blocked, Edelbrock performer, Q-jet, Sanderson block huggers, Olds HEI; 700R4 built to take it; 67 GTO rear 3.50:1 locked type rear gears. MII up front with disk-drum power brakes. MC and booster set up at 90 deg. all under dash to keep firewall clean. Still a project but getting there. Trying to keep it looking mostly stock except for some lowering. Well, I guess the tilt hood won't look stock when its up. I've sourced parts from US, Sweden and lately Argentina. Amazing where you find stuff. The budget dictates I move slow so a few years before its on the road.

    Hey 36 Vette,

How did you ever perfect that 90-degree brake master and booster setup? It's not fair of you to play with my brain like that!!

  17. The pivot point is vertical instead of horizontal.
I think you can actually see a part of it behind the rubber boot.

There were some vans that used the 90 degree mounting of the booster.

    Baron,
I talked with Rob in Sea Tac. He said he may have the front S/S trim parts. I think the made up S/S trim overlay parts you mentioned may be the way to go. I'll let Rob know I'm thinking about these S/S peices for $12. http://www.theglasshouse1.com/products.htm
Rob, sure seems like one of us guys. Nice in every way. MAGOOZ

  25. Never Done, She is a real beauty and very classy looking. Where did you find her??
My local glass shop, in Orlando just made me a rear door window, for a customers 1954 Chevy Belair. $65
I was going to take it out, but he had the whole car, to do the rubbers, on front and back glass...so I just had him do the whole job. $140 bucks.

    Hi
I bought this car in Washington, and it will travel up to Norway now.
Just liked the look on the car ;o) The seller claimed that it is no rust on the car??
I have not seen it myself.
I understand now that it can be a problem to find that window.

  29. Blase, How did you get the rust off the front clip?? I got a customer's '54 Belair, same issue. Would like to try and preserve the original baby blue paint. Tried lime and rust remover, did not really work that well.
