Hi Everyone, I recently bought a 32 Ford pickup cab, no doors. Got it at a really good price and the cab is in good condition. The roof has some dents and a couple of small tears right at the front where the roof meets the cab uprights.
First question - which doors from other 23-33-34 fords will fit my cab? 2 dr sedan, 4 dr sedan, coupe?
Second question - is there and site on the internet that I can go to that will show a exploded diagram of a 1932 Ford pickup cab? Or, do I have to get a catalogue from some parts supplier that will show this?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  2. Truck doors are truck doors.
Very hard to find, right up there with rear fenders.
Congrats on the cab purchase though!
We like truck pictures, just sayin'

I really hope to get a couple pics in the next day or two. Was looking at several different web sites and did find new repro doors and rear fenders, but, WOW, really big bucks. 'Bout ****ped in my pants seeing those prices. Heck, at those prices I could damn near buy all the equipment, take cl***es, buy a lot of sheet stock and maybe after a couple years, come close to making a door, and then again maybe not.

the unfortunate truth is the best way to get a complete cab with doors is to buy the whole lot at once. Id sell what you bought ( at a profit hopefully if you got it cheap ) to someone else who doesnt realise doors are impossible to find, and buy a good cab WITH doors. It almost a given this will be cheaper.

Fibergl*** or steel? If steel, please tell us where. I haven't seen anybody reproing in steel yet.

I went through this with my 32 sedan project, it had doors but they were junk. I spent a year scrounging and searching until I finally found a set that I could use. Nothing is impossible to find just takes longer than you'd like sometimes. Good luck.

Thanks for replys and links. I thought it was on Bob Drake's site where I saw the repro doors. If there were fibergl*** it was really expensive fibergl***. I'll have to look again.
Yesterday, Sunday, I called a friend in the area telling him what I was looking for. He said to come over as he had a pair of 'junk' doors and some other stuff. Of course I left immediately. We started going thru his back lot area and found the doors and the p***enger door was really gone, but did have some parts that could be saved. The driver's door was somewhat better but would require a LOT of repairs. But it was more that I had the day before. Also found a bunch of front fenders, you know, the kind where you get two to make one good one. So I got a pair of p***enger fenders and a pair of driver fenders, a couple of pickup running boards with brackets and I happened to find a pair of really nice 35 truck headlights in very good condition. When it was time to go, I asked what everything was going to cost, he said ' a hundered bucks and lunch.' We had a good time at lunch and talked about the good old days! Yes, all the parts need some form of repair, but I would have paid that much for just the headlights.

Bob Drake has coupe doors at $2100 each, but they won't fit a pickup.

Glad to hear you found something you can work with,,doors for 32-34 trucks are hard to find so anything is better than nothing. HRP

Yea, I went back and checked and they were coupe doors, not pickup. But I do have a couple of leads for some 32 doors in my general area. Going to check that out in the next couple of days. Boy, would that make a great Christmas present to myself.

Buy all the loose '32-34 truck doors you find. You can then sell the leftovers, even the really rough ones, and probably pay for a lot of your truck with the profits. There are 98.3% more cabs out there than doors to fit them.

Walden Speed Shop sells new door skins, which will be infinitely better than Howell's ones.

Nobody is stamping steel reproduction fenders yet. The only steel reproductions currently on the market are hand fabricated and have been listed at $3400 for a pair on eBay. http://www.hardisonmetalshaping.com/new-rear-fenders-to-fit-1932-ford-pickup.html

Brookville, Drake, et al are really missing a market by not producing new rear fenders.

You will probably have to use whatever doors you can find and re skin and fabricate whatever you can for them. I just sold a pair about 3 months ago for seven hundred and now I think they would have brought more. There is a pair on ebay now in Connecticut I think but they look rough and expensive.
Speedway sells a fibergl*** truck body kit so you might inquire about just the doors for one.

Where there's a will, there's a way. With the help of this site, a ****-*** welder, a good grinder, basic hand tools & a lot of time, I brought this one back from the dead. I too bought a cab without doors (for a good price...ha-ha). The desire & will to do it is the most important factor. (No, I didn't do the raised area around the hinges...in my next lifetime.)

Man, that sure looks good. How did you do the top of the door, especially the curved portion above the top hinge?

I actually had that door top, just not in the pic. It was off because I chopped the door 3." I felt bad because I was chopping out just about the only good parts of the door (ha-ha). That was a real adventure & learning experience, I'll say that. That was before they started reproducing the latches & window winders, so finding all of those bits & pieces was a struggle. And there's always missing pieces, like the channel inside the door that guides the window. Luckily, the other door, which wasn't as bad, had one that I could use as a pattern to fabricate another. I recall that I made two & eventually ended up giving it to another HAMBer that was in the same predicament. You tend to forget that stuff after the fact until threads like this get you to remembering.
