Always important to keep walking around and looking from every angle to make sure your proportions are right. :)

I believe that the title goes with the floorpan, and as I'm not using this I wouldn't stand a chance.

The next area I worked on was the rear corners of the cockpit
I must say at this point that I did do a fair bit of preparation and planning before I started uploading images. Firstly I didn't want to start something this different if it was to go horribly wrong, secondly I didn't want huge time gaps while I worked things out.

The next area I tackled was the rear corners of the cockpit. This is the rough shape I needed.

Although I could have used this, I decided to smooth it out so that I could make a casting.

It needs a Ford flathead built out of leftover VW engines. At this point I think English gent could even pull that off. Outstanding work.

  18. I'm sure whatever power plant EG uses it will be appropriate.

    Any hint's? HRP

Will pewter soldered to steel produce a galvanic reaction that would encourage corrosion?

Will the pewter parts ever vibrate off due to rough roads combined with iffy adhesion to steel?

Hoping you've thought of this already.

  23. I repair factory Ford, and Plymouth die cast pieces pretty often....primarily grilles from a certain era.

Pot metal, pewter, close but not exactly the same. I've had great luck with silver/tin solder in both die cast repairs....and bonding to steel. There are no issues with corrosion once all flux/acids are removed from the surface. Responds well to paint once etched and coated just like any other metal to be painted.

In practice....bonding the rear quarter caps to quarters for a "no seam/body line" look. If the panel has enough integrity to not flex or move.....the tin will stay attached forever. Until of course....something chooses to move said panel violently. Which a lot of things move in that case.....always.

I sure can't wait to see what he does next......

It is similar to the practice of lead before Bondo arrived on the scene. Old School! ;)

Next I made up this piece to run along the rear of the cockpit. It's a simple length of channel with a roll in the rear face.

    Not to get sappy but......
Lost a 40+ year friend today.
    Bruce Turner.
Worked with him for 38 years.
    Learned everything I ever learned
about forming sheet metal from him.
It would probably take another 40
    to learn all he knew.
    Another Master leaves the planet.
He always said stuff like, "If you can cut it I can bend it!"
Never said "No I cant", always said, "Let me try it."
Got me out of more jams in production
    than I can count.
    Simple, honest, loyal, The Best,
    I hope he sees this.
    I'll miss you Bruce....

My condolences, Tony, it is hard losing an old friend, unfortunately I know how hard that can be.
