After seeing Fat-Ass Whitewalls, lowering job, on his scoot...Me thinks my MTD would benefit from a slam job. Already two additional holes in the rear frame. For that "chopper" look, there is way too much clearance in between the fender and the tire. Just gonna have some fun with it for now. Wish I could have the crank balanced to get rid of that vibration. 5hp Briggs ohv, is a good little motor, but vibrations at the top end are enough to rattle the fillings from your teeth.
I just finished redoing a minibike that I have owned for about 30 years. I changed from a 3 HP Briggs, to a 6.5 HP Harbor Freight engine. I'm wondering if anyone can identify the frame manufacturer ? Notice that the frame has a step in it, in the jackshaft area. which mounts the rear axle under the frame, instead of above the frame. It also has limited front suspension. Thanks for any help you can give. Bob
Hard to tell from pic but slicks front and rear.Hard as hell to turn with the front square shoulder slick
My lil Indian with 2 west bend 820's, saying that it is a handful is an understatement Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Oh to get started on mine. Briggs frame. Far as Ive got is buying grips ,throttle and cleaning/priming frame. Wheels and tire are expensive but it will get finished. Have a 3.5 Briggs that runs, Not worried about going fast at 56 but intend to have something I wanted when I was 12. My wife says I need to grow up. Why?
Moriarty, you need to bring that Lil' Indian AND the Turbonique to the White Knuckle Scramble race in August!!
Here's one of my mini-bikes. 1970 "Baby-Cat" with a 5hp flathead Briggs transplanted. 8 hp at the wheel @ 60 mph if you dare. Yes it needs the wheelie bar!
Ever heard of a mini made by Ben Hunt Mfg. of Walla Walla Wa. Caper cycle IIRC, had springer front As a kid (about 1966) bought one used, came with a Mac 10 kart engine Fastest thing in town, was this stock or was it transplanted
Have a couple project ones stashed. Pretty rare nowadays at least for the ones like mine with the straight top tube. I believe they would have all had Westbends on the 2 stroke models, which is still pretty hot. A Mac would have been something someone may have done back then being everyone had their preference or used what they had, etc just like with cars.
lots of neat minbikes on here--had a few for the kids back in the 70's Sure would like to find another to putt around on-closest I found near here (2 blocks away) is a Simplex bike minus the engine-but will look at swapmeets for a mini soon.
Real fond memories from the 60's for me, kind of like the feelings you retain of your first car. It was first thing I owned that moved under it's own power. Speaking of power, as I said above that Mac 10 was a rocket. I seem to remember a couple guys from my hometown raced karts w/macs, they may have had something to do with the swap. Not so fond of the times that it didn't want to start though, came home many times with bloody hands from pulling on that starter rope.
Long, that is a nice score. Has gobs of potential. Last month's Billetproof Florida gave me an excuse to have my good friend Miquel, work some of his magic, on the Silver Bullet.
I had A Taco 22 with a 9Hp MAC9 chain saw engine, I could past traffic on the free way, ahhh young and dumb................. but still alive for now
Arizona guys!!! After too long a lay off, we are gonna do it again! Been talking back and forth this week with Jeff Shaw and Jimmy Smith, and it looks like on Memorial Day I'll be the starting spot for a ride! Right now it's a save the date kinda thing, but more details as they happen!!!
Road Angels, We all seem to have survived our youth, despite dangerous situations. Me and my friend's used to ride our mini-bikes all over Cleveland's east side Burb's. There was this awesome trail and wooded area, about 4 miles from our house. Spent many a day up there. Parents never worried. Like 25 cents to fill our tanks. Always home by 4pm to do our paper routes. JT
where do you guys get engine parts? 5 hp briggs flat head. my cylinder is scored and will need bored out.
And didn't listen when told to "slow that thing down before you kill yourself". I often wonder how we survived our youth.
Can anyone help with an ID? It sorta like a rupp, but has twin down tubes Inverted forks and a bigger tank. There's a few extra parts that I don't think belong with the frame.
http://www.oldminibikes.com/forum/ I think this may be old news to some of you, but this is The Hamb of the minibike world. These guys identified my mini in no time flat. Nice score!! JT
