    Hey Kiwi,

Been off for a couple of days, so I didn't see your need for the perches. I have nice pair that I started to clean up for the 'Bucket of ugly that I would be happy to throw in a U.S.P.S. box and send your way if you need them. Just P.M. me your address and I'll make it "SO".

GROAN!!! So much stress to perform.....:D Chip...Gary is going to send me a pair, but if you still want to send those, I won`t say no, as I need a pair for the T Coupe project that may have to be sold as a Roller to help fund this....I don`t have Washington paperwork for this T either, so have to pursue that as well. The list gets longer, not shorter...o_O

Hey guys and gals just a little something to strive for. LARS June 20th and 21st. "Been there done that." Give me a reason to drive through GATE 1 with you in 2015. No pressure. Okay some pressure. Remember all you need is a "FINISHED ROADSTER" 1936 and older. That means no rusty parts, shiny paint on body and professional looking upholstery. Their interpretation of "roadster" is any car pre '37 with a removable top. Jump in here Chip.

Will I be in something interesting or will it be another late-model-AC-in-my-face trip?

    TOW, TOW, TOW, TOW, TOW!

With a well air-conditioned enclosed vehicle. We've all paid our dues driving our roadsters in sweltering weather.

Driving an old machine across the desert out to the roadster show is a big part of the fun. A lot of us out here in Phoenix drive the hell out of our old cars year round, even in the melon baking summer. We know how to protect ourselves from this harsh enviroment. We know and understand our machines well, they have to be very robust, very well sorted out and have very good cooling systems. If man and machine can handle Phoenix rush our traffic on a 110+ degree day, a trip across the desert at highway speed a is piece of cake. We thrive on that kind of deal.

I don't look down on any one who trailers their car to a show. There are plenty of good reason for doing it. I just think that when someone can drive their machine to a long distance show and chooses to trailer, they're missing out on a whole lot of fun.

Plus, nearly every time that I've traveled with someone who is trailering their car, at some point, I hear them complain about having to drag the trailer around. I always think to myself "I know a solution to that problem".

Not sure that it is my favorite bucket in the world but it wouldn't have any trouble being passed through GATE ONE on Fathersday.

More goodness from Lynn Bird's Face book page...[IMG]

I have seen this one before, and I can't remember if it's from Norm's change over to the Kookie Car, or if it's later after Jim Street (Scoznok.... Awe hell, now I know why he calls himself Street!) had it redone in the pearl white with red flames.

It's after Street bought it. Norm never had chrome rims on it. Don't think I've seen any photos of it when it was in transition when Norm had it. But still an interesting photo. Keep them coming.
And kiwi it's me drooling on them.

The latest photo I`ve seen when Norm still owned it was with the full length Bed Side pipes. I think I remember him saying they were dummies....That was after I built all the exhaust on Grant`s car and made those Bed Side Pipes on his car working ones....

Paul I've often wondered why those stacks on Norms T didn't blacken the white upholstery behind them before he ran them out the back. Not sure if I heard how much work you did on Grant's klone. Did you build the whole thing? The only fault I found with it is I thought he kinda over finished it. Like I've/We've said here before you just have to know where to quit. But then again that is probably how Norms roadster would have looked if he had kept it a few more years.

Had a great talk with Grant at LARS this year. He walked up Saturday morning just as we were getting there and my friends and I were starting to clean my roadster. Sorry again guys I just never learned to work and talk. I also can't walk and chew gum at the same time. By the time he and I finished talking my friends just about had my roadster cleaned.

Yep, Gary, I did almost all the fabrication on Grant`s car when I worked for Donn Lowe. All the chassis, made the body out of two, all the mounts, exhaust, windshield frame, etc, etc. Donn did all the scaling and advice, and some body lead and other finish work. After paint and chrome, Lonnie Gilbertson did the assembly and wiring. I think Mickey McVey did the interior. There were some differences to Norms car, notably the Cad Turbo 400 (bolts on that Cad 390 with the right factory pieces) and the Quickchange and 4wheel discs. You can see the finned backing plates in that cover shot. It turned out really well, as you say it was alot more detailed than the original. I still have my autographed picture with Edd Byrnes in the car with all of us that worked on it...

This guy? Signing my roadster's dash. I had it apart for a rebuild at the time.

Well Paul I guess you know how to build a bucket.

Just sent off the bolts. Hope you can use them. One is kinda boogered up. I had a hell of a time getting it out. Even with my 20 ton press I had to heat it and one nut is missing. I'm sure I fucked it up beating on it.

You know Paul I kinda regret not sitting down and talking to him that afternoon. It was just a small Pete Paulson show in the valley a few years ago and after the first maybe hour he just sat there alone the rest of the afternoon. I kinda felt sorry for him. I bought his biography book he was selling. Pretty honest book. He got full of himself and made some bad decisions in his life. But he hung with some Hollywood biggies back then. Drove a R.R.

Hey Chip If you don't like Kiwi Paul and I taking over your thread just let us know. Probably won't do any good but you could try.
