Are 32 ford sedan and 5w door the same? I see they share some common sheet metal in those ares but wasn't sure if the doors were the same.

    Thanks,

Nope, fordor fronts and five window are similar, but sedans are all by themselves.

Thanks. I am curious why the body styles didn't share more parts, you would think that it would have been more efficient to use the same floors, doors, fenders, etc.

How about the door hatches and rods to the inside handles, are there Tudor, Coupe, and Fordor? Bob

  8. A quick search discovered that there is an abundance of pickup, 5 window and roadster latch assemblies, however I understand the length of the rod that attaches the handle to the mechanism can be modified to suit other body styles.

3wlarry, i was on a car trip with my son a tear or two ago. He was in the back playing with ipad. The next time I looked at it there were a hundred pictures on there of him that all had goofy effects like that.

  10. A '32 4 door and a '32 5 window coupe are about the same length,but that's about it,they are not interchangeable. HRP

I have a friend that got a good deal on a bare 5w shell and started looking for doors. He found a pass side and settled on a 4dr drivers side. He shortened the back of the window frame (chopped??) the proper amount, about an inch if I remember. Finished the car & drove for years...nobody ever noticed. One day standing in front of the car I looked down the sides & noticed the 5w door had a crown front to back & the 4dr was flat. It was painted white and didn't stand out unless you were told.

Yep. I used 4-door latches in my 2 door, and just extended the actuating arm. Apart from that, they went straight in.

I know for sure that the latch assembly from 32-34 pick doors will bolt right into sedan doors, sounds crazy, I thought I would have to lengthen the actuator Ross but they were a perfect fit! Just thought I would throw that in. Also 32 4 door doors are 1/4" shorter than 5 window doors. And the shape of the window opening is different but if your chopping the 5 window it can easily be fixed. Not sure about the crown between the 4 door and 5 window doors I haven't compared mine yet.

I was curious about this as I bought a tudor sedan body. It will go on the frame that I already have, leaving me with two extra sedan doors. The first sedan body I have had been rolled, so the top was junk. I was going to make a tub out of it when this other body came up. The other body needs a lot of work on the windshield header portion of the roof and I was looking and found the upac roofs for a 5 window that I could cut the header out of. This lead me down the path of wondering how much it would cost to make a 5 window out of the old sedan body. Since the doors dont work it just gets too spendy to do it.
    Thanks for the info

Actually that's backwards. The fordor has a big arch to the window top, and the 5-window is flatter.

If your chopping a coupe you can use a 4 door front door, you'll have to message the door top.

alchemy, I'm talking about the door skin and the belt line having a crown. I already addressed the top of the door frame needing "chopped".
