Been down with the flu the last few days, so have spent a little time (when not in the bathroom) :( scamming all the ads on the net for HAMB friendly vehicles...and being a bit cranky from the flu decided to vent a bit...
So many really cool cars & trucks for sale, then the pictures (especially the interior) show wires hanging down, non vacuumed floors, dust and general***** all over.....and lay off the Broads.....not really adding anything to the cars....
Then you got the cars in tight storage places, or a garage full of*****, so you never really get a good side shot, or interior shot that is clear.....
And worst of all, on the dreaded Flea Bay......you see a really cool car in the first picture, then in the description of it you see the real car....usually a**************...saying their car could look like the one pictured..... NOT....
    Done venting....
    What you think ?
Moderators, I could not find a proper prefix for this, so if you deem it non HAMB worthy you may delete it....but I thought it was a good subject to address.

Yeah that gets me too. Along with "ready for restoration". Gee thanks, what a time saver that is.

I feel your pain. Some folks have no clue about "marketing" their car for sale. If you can't even vacuum the carpet or pull it out of that dark, tight garage for some photos, why should I bother to even call or come look at it?! The one that always gets me laughing is. " Car leaks a little here and there, easy fix." Well if it's such an easy fix why don't you fix it before you try to sell the pos to me!

...................or how about, "All of the hard work is done, just needs bodywork, paint and interior to make it your own." Okay so you've done some fab work, installed the drivetrain and wired and plumbed the car, now if I can't do any or all of the above as well as a pro, I just have to dump another $20-$30K into it "to make it my very own".

Yeah, I agree, I like gals as good as the next guy but give me a break, does that tactic really draw guys/pervs in, to buy cars? does the buyer think that girl is gonna be there with the car wanting to go on a date or....?
I imagine a high roller, gold chainer, with a fat belly and a hawaiian shirt that couldnt get a date if it werent for money thinkin hes gonna get lucky if he buys the car:rolleyes:......or what is the seller thinking?

Some guy with a lot of high end cars for sale, evidently not too far away from me, does ebay listings like that all the time....heck, it may work for the high end guys, I dont know???

.......aint too many ladies posing in the parts car section where I can afford to look :D

Ready for restoration means.. I took it completely apart, then I found out it takes money to put it back together.
Easy restoration means.. I got prices and found out it takes money to put it back together.
Just needs paint means.. I banged the dents out, patched up the rust as cheaply as I could, now the body shop wants money to paint it

There seems to be a common theme.

but you know somehow those cars sell. I have an acquaintance locally who makes his living with a rollback. On long trips down south, he often buys a vintage car, lot of F-1oo trucks, and brings it back. They sit in his front yard for sale. They'll have trash on floor from last time he took it to a cruise to advertise it. Might have a flat tire, certainly never washed. So said to him, why don't you clean them up, wax them? His answer was "lipstick on a pig", I price them right and they sell like they are. Human nature I guess.

[QUOTE="olcurmdgeon, post: 10761326, member: 44794" I price them right and they sell like they are. [/QUOTE]................................This could be the answer.:)...It always amazes me when someone is trying to sell a $45,000 car and can't bother to get the 8 yr. old down the street to show him how to post a picture. WTF, you want to sell me a $45k car and you can't even go to the trouble of posting a picture!

I apologize for the lack of pic's in my basketcase AV8 coupe add. I was working hard to get it all in place for pic's before I went to Chicago. Some of the parts are here at the house, some inside the parts shed at the farm and some outside at the farm 25 miles from my house. Since I returned from Chicago I have not had a decent day to work on getting this done. Since having Chemo 7 years ago the cold simply is too painful to work for extended time. Hoping for a warmer streak when I have a day or two off so I can finish this task. Rod

    an $80,000 B/J ?

I wish you could sort the classifieds by price and with or w/o pics ... Then I could avoid the $80,000 cars w/o pics.

Pictures by a pro car seller can be deceiving, I have traveled w/$$$ to buy a car, talked to seller, told, car is great, pics don't lie, arrived and the car is a POS, not at all like the pics, so maybe shi--ty pics are not so bad, the seller is not hiding anything, just from my experiences in the hobby, its a***** shoot, I want to believe most people are honest, as always, buyer beware !

One of my pet peeves would have to be blurry photos. They make me have to grab my glasses to see if it is just me. There is a recurring ad on Craigslist that features a nice looking old Chevy. But it looks like they smeared Vaseline on the edges of the lens or got all cutesy with Instagram filters to impart a dream sequence look to the car. I expect to hear harp music everytime it pops up.
