Dave Mock and Gene Sonnen's coupes are why I fell in love with flamed 40 Coupes, Lobeck's 40 coupe is why mine is red, and Rick Schnell's is why I have always run mine hoodless. These will ALWAYS be my inspiration, and I hope someday, someone finds mine as inspiring as these have been to me!

As a kid I was in love
With the Red Baron as a hot wheel. When I
    Got old
Enough to build models, it was Ed Roths beatnik bandit. When I became
Old enough to drive I purchased a vw bug. Around this time I first saw the California kid. I chopped
My bug, removed the fenders, installed a ford v6 in the back and painted it to match the California kid coupe. At the age of 20 I was room mates with a fellow
    Hamber by the name
    Of
Jimmy Jordan. He dragged a 31 ford coupe
Home and I was hooked. Hotrods for ever!

Not usually a fat fender man myself, but that red and white beast with no hood is tasty!

    Deto -
I'm 48. Born in '66. Got my Chevy in the '80s when an used up drag car was worth almost nothing.

  5. I started out building models, but from the beginning, I couldn't make em box stock. Had to chop em and change em.
Things took a turn for the worse, when the local hot rod club set up, in a large shed over the back fence.
    I was 11.
I started hanging out over there, helping when I could.
Washing this black n flamed A, got me a ride around the block.
The sickness had begun, and this car is the reason my Hudson is black n flamed. 305543-1309690661-434c1e532f5a94f0e8a67153822f42b7.jpg IMG_20141216_200605.JPG

    Bob\' 57 1969.jpg Bob\'s 57 at Havana Dragstrip031.jpg Super 57 At Havana_1990-2.jpg 2011_07_23 - 06 Bob & John.jpg

My older brother Bob bought his 57 BelAir when I was about 5 years old, (in 1968). He drag raced it off and on for over 30 years and still has it today. I spent alot of my growing up, underneath that car and hanging out in the garage.
The first photo is from 1969, when Bob was in high school. The next two are from the mid 80's - early 90's, taken at Mason County Raceway, (previously called Midstate Dragway) in Havana ILL. The last is from a couple of years ago, at the Meltdown Drags in Byron ILL. This inspired me to buy my 55 Chevy, which is also in the last photo.

That flamed Model A tub looks awfully familiar. Think I saw it hanging around Christchurch back in the 80's.

Another inspiration for my rod: Moriarty's Futurian inspired my white/purple pearl paint.

My family didn't really get it going for me but I've always had a interest of everything from the 50s and 60s garage rock passers clothing and etc but seeing american graffiti and a friend's dad's 409 powered 55 chevy did it for me and finally at 19 years old(2 years ago) bought my 55 210 post

    My father's 1970 Meyers Manx V8.
He built it from scratch from 70-73.
500hp 327 sbc with double hump heads. Unfortunately its been sitting for 20 years or so. (I started pulling it apart last summer.) Always heard the stories of it when i was little and he always has a smile on his face when he talks about it. Pictures are from the late 90's.

IMG_0258.JPG I'd always this vision of a roadster in my head, but wasn't ever to quite articulate it, then I saw this car before Paul moved it to Texas. It's what had been rattling around between my ears all that time...

Scan0041[1].jpg This was a parade car in the town were I grew up. The Legioniers would get pretty tanked up bore the parades. Pretty much piss drunk from the stories I've been told. This pic is from 2000s? Second one is 2005.
    Its all mine now.

This is the car that has inspired me for more than 55 years, my first car, shortly after my father bought it new:

Now, still with a four cylinder A motor:

Hot Rod magazine, in the sixties, was a major influence on me back then. A full fendered candy red/cherry '29 roadster with chromed Merc wheels and and hubcaps, big and little wide whites, and perfect stance, was a car in HRM that always inspired me for it ultra clean looks.

  20. When I was little I spent Saturdays with the Ol' Man, either at the shop or a track of some sort. The cars and the sound always impressed me but I think I was inspired more by the people. The Ol' Man was a very well respected wrench in both the automotive and motorcycle world and his shop was an endless string of characters. Those guys all managed to get in my head, and their cars and bikes were just an extension of their personalities, so cars and bikes are all still up there with them.

I will 'man-up' and admit that "Happy Days'' in 1972 got me thinking I could have my own hot rod someday, and Ralph-Malph driving around that little yellow roadster-pickup caused me heart palpitations!!! Years of Doowop music and owning some fast cars...I decided to build my own, as I saw it in my mind. I was just in visual awe of "The Fonz'' working in a garage with his white coveralls....and of course, I loved having my own 1941 Ford pickup in high school...pretty rusty, but did have a Flathead with glasspacks that I saved lunch money to buy....nobody else liked it back then, but I had great day-dreams driving it and that 'low' rumble from the exhaust... my grandfather gave me my first tools, and taught me some 'old school' things I still use today....some really good memories!

Not sure what you mean but I'd think you save a picture that you like from photobucket then upload it when you do a post - hope that helps.
