I did not miss the HAMB while I was in Daytona a week for the Turkey run but then I parked in the HAMB section.

What would I do? Don't really know. At 72 I find myself as 24/7 caregiver for my wife and in the winter, when I can't bundle her into the '40 and take a drive (it is 4 degrees here today) the HAMB is my window on the world. Everymorning I get her settled by TV with her coffee and GMA on the screen and I retreat to computer with my coffee and spend an hour or two lost in gearhead heaven.

I am looking at the HAMB but also for the best sites for 60-70's drag racing , street freaks and gassers. These topics are non-Hamb obviously, but are my passion.Anyone have recommendations that they have found? The Hanb has changed. I use to look at 10 pages a day of good posts about builds, shop tips and history. Not so much anymore.

I Love all of the constructive part of the HAMB. I Hate the running down of other people and their cars the way they did this or that etc, fiberglass haters , just bashers in general. Like it and comment or just move on if you don't.

  11. There is actually no way to explain the HAMB to someone who doesn't get it to start with. Best way is to encourage them to just check it out, not join just check it out. Make sure that they read the "rules" in the new to the HAMB section it pretty simply lays out the basics of what Ryan (and a lot of us) would like the HAMB to be.

  12. Right you are Beano, you ether get it or you don't.

When I started getting interested in hot rods and custom I was a little guy and have always like the old styles,in the 80's and 90's my old cars didn't fit in with all the billet wheels & Easter egg colors and couch upholstery interiors. HRP

  13. Yep coming from my background fast cars and fast bikes were pretty much my destiny. It was probably a good thing that I was around the old style stuff from an early age, when I started building I didn't have two nickels to rub together (still don't) and built everything I owned from everyone's cast offs. I was not stylish by any means but I managed to have some pretty neat chit.

Oh as for easter egg colors I have always wanted to paint a car periwinkle just because I like the name.

Won't kill you (the folks that are asking, not you Danny) to check out what some of the seasoned HAMB vets say about it. Check it out, a tiny glimpse into the old HAMB. Almost quoted Dong, but no point starting a shit storm that few would understand.

That was not close :D The fact that you read the whole thread and also that you have 2,473 posts here proves that you are as addicted as the rest of us :D

  17. There is just one thing to bear in mind when it comes to the HAMB, "The HAMB will get you through times of no money better then money will get you through times of no HAMB!!!"

road-0.jpg road-4.jpg road-4.jpg road-0.jpg road-4.jpg I guess I would be called a "street rodder", old enough to have a gold chain but don't. Not sure I agree to the "traditional" (per' '65 or whatever). I do like the older "hot rods" more I think.
But I do get hooked on some of the threads and read them to the end. And I am usually at work too.
I like the driving threads but I have learned things on flatheads and the other stuff. It is car stuff and I can talk and listen to that for hours. Just ask my wife.
Here is a picture of my roadster, about 1970.

  20. I think I have heard that adage in the past but it seems it had a different connotation referring to alcohol or illicit tobacco.

but yeah when you don't have the money to lavish on your project or the weather is a bitch, being inside where your warm and comfortable,it's better than watching reruns and I might just learn something.:) HRP

Since I ride the bus to work (never thought I'd be doing that, I miss my 10 mile commute back in Michigan), The HAMB provides my commuting entertainment.

  22. Well we are talking about addiction and you are absolutely correct about the weather being bad or money being tight.

Its is too cold for Pandas today and I don't have two nickels to rub together but I do have a computer. ;)
