  5. $1.68 a gallon in Owasso right now. Glad I don't work in the oil industry anymore, the IT department is often one of the first departments to get cut when the price of oil drops.

  16. In Socal we paid around $1.50 before all the shit hit the fan around 6 yrs ago. Those that are paying under $2 now, what were you paying before all this happened?

  17. $1.75 today 87 Oct. Groucho, we were payin around $2.15-$2.25 a gallon, greater MSP about 6 years ago. Last year we were close to $3.75-$3.85 for 87 Oct. I remember a time when I was first driving, gas was $1.19 87 Oct and NEVER changed, those days are gone.

When I first moved to Wichita, KS in late '97 the gas price wavered between .99 to 1.09. Over the next couple of years it creeped up bit by bit to around $1.20-1.30 up to the turn of the century. Then I recall a big drop to around .69. From that point it rose steadily to near $1.50-1.75 before the crash of '08. Saw just over $4.00 for a short while, then the price dropped back below $2.00 and steadily rose over the next couple of years to just over $2.50-3.00. It went back up to near $4.00 around 2011 and depending on the time of the year, the last three would hover between $2.85-3.50. Last spring it started dropping to near $2.00 by end of summer. My wife said if it got below $2.00 we would do a road trip. Sure enough, just before Christmas, $1.99 and she texted "Road Trip" when she saw it. As of today, it's $1.73 at the QT and the last fill-up I did at Dillon's it was $1.56 with a .20 discount. I fill my car up every 2-3 weeks and the most I have ever paid was $80.00 for almost 19 gallons and the least was the last fill-up at $28.00 for 18 gallons. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and the prices go back near $5.00

  20. Yeah, I remember '97-'98 gas was around .85-.90 cents a gallon for a while, my dad thought he died and went to heaven when he saw that. Before that, he would drive around until he found gas .02 cheaper and boast about it to everyone!.

  25. Nearest I can tell, OPEC Is artificially driving prices down in an attempt to drive American production to the financial breaking point.

  30. The whole gas price thing seems to be just a bunch of crap to me. Right after 9-11, when you'd think people would be scared to fly for a while, and would be driving more.....gas went from around $1.50 to less than $1.10 over night. I expected to see the opposite
