As a kid going to the drag strip I always knew cars by their names and it was not until years later that I even knew who owned or drove the cars.

You would ride past a gas station and it seemed like every station had a drag car sitting out front with cars name on them and colored plexiglass windows to match the cars color.

I think part of the reason drag racing became as famous as it did was because of the colorful names the cars used to have.

    I miss those day's!!!

Just my opinion of growing up in the 60's

I was wondering if anyone had any information on the J & J Racing Team car out of Norwalk, Connecticut?

Could this be one of John Kurtzsman's early gasser projects?

Years ago John was making headers and the headers on this car look like some I have seen him make.

I was told a couple of years ago that the orange J&J coupe was a John Kurtzman car. I remember seeing it sitting in the front window of a car dealership in Westport around 1968 (maybe Turnpike Pontiac?). Not long after I saw it going down the Post Road in Norwalk near the drive in. Don't know if it was registered and street legal or not. Thought it was really cool then and still do.

    Thanks Pa G.

I knew John and his sons through racing karts and he got me interesting in pins-tipping years ago after watching him at work. He was a master craftsman when it came to lettering and pin-stripping.

I watched him apply the gold leaf work to Dick Moroso's corvette back in the 60's when it was named the "Yankee Cheater"

I lived in Norwalk years ago.
